Book Review: Celebrity Bride by Alison Kervin

Posted on Monday, July 13th, 2009 by Leah

alisonkervincelebritybrideIt’s the celebrity wedding of the season…

The news that Hollywood bad boy Rufus George is finally settling down has caused a media storm. Especially since his bride is a civilian - a nobody. Kelly Monsoon is a pretty, curvy theatre administrator. She never expected to meet a mega-star like Rufus let alone have him fall in love with her. And when Rufus asks Kelly to come and live with him, in his magnificent mansion, she feels like it’s a fairytale come true.

Only this Prince Charming comes with a 12-person entourage, a bevy of beautiful ex-girlfriends and the world’s press camped on his doorstep. But when Rufus proposes Kelly accepts and the media interest in this new couple hits the roof. However, the small, intimate wedding Kelly always dreamed of is taking on Hollywood epic proportions…Rufus’s manager is trying to book Buckingham Palace for the wedding reception and all Kelly’s mum wants to know is where to buy a nice hat.

It’s a clash of cultures: British versus American, celebrity versus civilian - with poor Kelly stuck in the middle, not knowing where she belongs. Will this celebrity bride ever make it up the aisle?

Book News: A Wild Affair by Gemma Townley

Posted on Monday, July 13th, 2009 by Chloe

The sequel to Gemma Townley’s brilliant novel The Importance of Being Married (which I loved!) has a release date through its UK publishers Orion of 21st January 2010 and is called A Wild Affair. The gorgeous cover has also been released too, and it follows the cover theme of Gemma’s first novel and carries on the adventures of Jessica Wild. I’m really looking forward to the next installment in this story, and here’s the synopsis:

Jessica and Max are finally going to tie the knot, and Jessica is determined to have the biggest, best wedding ever. The only problem is, recently Max has been evasive - and when Jessica follows him and sees him in an apparent tryst with an attractive woman, it’s the last straw. The next thing she knows, she’s drunk at a bar, cosying up to the top rival of Max’s firm, and letting some top-secret work details slip… details that could cost Max everything. The next morning Jessica is deeply ashamed of her actions, and when a series of events leads her to discover an important truth about her past, she realises she shouldn’t have doubted the only man she’s ever loved. But as evidence of her own indiscretion surfaces, she knows that the same can’t be said about her. Is her Big Day, as well as her job and reputation in jeopardy?”

Released through Orion on 21st January 2010. Gemma’s next novel after this, The Ideal Marriage, has a release date of 11th January 2011 on Amazon, although there’s no synopsis up yet.

Beth Sheridan is happy with her life, she’s got a good job and she is totally in love with Richard. The only problem is that Richard has no idea she’s in love with him, and he’s shacked up with another woman in Portugal.

But Beth doesn’t care because she knows one day he’ll come back to her, and she’s preparing herself for that very moment. But in the mean time, her best friend Vin is determined to find her another man, but Beth manages to meet 3.

Should she choose Sean from the office who isn’t quite as strange as he first seems, handsome millionaire Rupert who she’s only contacted through email or Brad, who she met at a speed dating event and gets on really well with. Is Beth going to pick one of her three men or is she still holding out for her maybe??
