Book Cover: After The Party by Lisa Jewell

Posted on Friday, December 18th, 2009 by Chloe

lisa jewell - after the partyLisa Jewell’s next book is a follow-up to her debut novel Ralph’s Party which is to be called After The Party, and I’ve found the cover online so here it is. I’m not a huge fan I have to say, I think it’s a little bit bland and not particularly outstanding but hopefully the story instead will be great! It’s due out 15th April 2010 but there’s no synopsis available yet so we’ll post it when there is!

Posted on Thursday, December 17th, 2009 by Chloe

ann pearlman the cookie clubEvery year, Marnie and her 12 friends meet for the annual meeting of The Cookie Club which happens on the first Monday of December every year without fail. The friends have been there for each other through a lot of ups and downs, and that’s not about the change any time soon.

Marnie is waiting to hear from her pregnant daughter Sky about whether the baby is viable, Charlene is still struggling to get over the death of her son Luke, Tracey is hiding a huge secret from all but a few of her friends, Jeannie and Ruth are still enemies over the discovery of another friend’s betrayal that has torn their friendship apart, and Rosie has to decide which is more important - her marriage or her need for children.

Together the friends help each other get through their problems, and show each other how important it is to have friends who are there for you no matter what. Their lives are all woven together as they await anxiously for news of Marnie’s grandchild and pass around the cookies for another year, but what secrets are going to be revealed once and for all?

Book Cover: Rock Chicks by Ronni Cooper

Posted on Thursday, December 17th, 2009 by Leah

rock chicks ronni cooperHere is the fantastic cover for Ronni Cooper’s debut novel Rock Chicks. It’s due out on 10th June 2010 and sounds fantastic. The cover is modern, it’s eye-catching and I adore the font. Here is the synopsis and I for one can’t wait to read this book!

    The groupie

Coco LaBiba has the beauty, she has the money, but she just needs sex, music and fame to get high. Yet behind every bad-girl diva is a girl crying out to be loved - she just hasn’t met the right man. Or has she?

    The wife

Marny Rammer - pretty, quiet, devoted wife of the band’s lead singer. But there’s a price to pay when superstardom comes knocking on your husband’s door, and for Marny it comes in the dangerous shape of those little round pills…

    The manager

Lori Wyatt is the girl from the sticks turned kick-ass band manager who can play any man at their own game - business, or pleasure - and who will do anything she can to sky-rocket her boys to the top. Anything.

    Zoe Barnes Passes Away

Posted on Wednesday, December 16th, 2009 by Leah

BEST-selling “chick lit” author Zoe Barnes took her own life while on holiday on the Isle of Man, it was revealed yesterday.

The popular author, whose real name was Susan Morgan but wrote under the pen names of Zoe Barnes and Sue Dyson, died after taking an overdose of prescription drugs.

She was found dead in her room at the Falcon’s Nest Hotel in Port Erin at the end of October. A pioneer of the chick lit genre, which addresses the issues of modern women, often humorously, Ms Barnes, aged 52, wrote 45 novels.

They included Wedding Belles, Just Married and Return To Sender. An inquest was told the author, from Cheltenham, suffered severe pain from auto-immune disorders which led to depression.

    Source.

That is so sad and our thoughts and prayers go out to Zoe’s family. May she Rest in Peace.
