Book Review: Bridesmaids by Jane Costello

Posted on Monday, November 30th, 2009 by Leah

jane costello bridesmaidsEvie Hart is worried she’ll always be the bridesmaid and never the bride, particularly since within a space of a few months she’ll be attending no less than four weddings all as a bridesmaid.

However during the first of those weddings, Evie meets Jack Williamson… by meet I mean her chicken fillets pop out of her dress but hey, it’s one way of making an impression. As Evie and Jack keep meeting at weddings it becomes apparant they both have feelings for the other but disaster keeps striking.

Will Evie finally be able to commit to a long-term relationship or is she destined to always being the bridesmaid?

December Releases from Little Black Dress

Posted on Monday, November 30th, 2009 by Leah

Just the two releases from Little Black Dress in December. I love the sound of A Date In Your Diary and the cover is fab.

Jules Stanbridge - A Date In Your Diary - 10th December jules stanbridge a date in your diary

Harriet Peel knows what’s hot and what’s definitely not. As the ‘what’s on’ writer for her local magazine, it’s her job. Her own social life, however, is teetering on the verge of non-existence. With the last of her friends tying the knot and the threat of being replaced at work by some annoying London ‘it’ girl, it’s time for drastic action.

Determined to find the ideal partner to take to the wedding, Harriet decides to register on a dating website. And when the resulting liaisons turn into experiences worth writing about, she suddenly finds herself the unwitting star of a hugely popular new column. Will her newly acquired social status as a minor celebrity help in her quest or is she destined to go to the wedding alone… again?

Suzanne MacPherson - Talk of the Town - 24th Decembersuzanne macpherson talk of the town

Kelly Atwood thought she’d found Mr Right, so when she discovers her new husband has a heavy-duty sideline in drug smuggling on her wedding day, she doesn’t think twice about punching him in the nose and fleeing to the small town of Paradise, Washington, where she immediately gets gorgeous upright attorney and local hero Sam Grayson feeling hot under his stiff collar.

Unfortunately, the one thing Kelly hasn’t realised is that she inadvertently took off with a suitcase stuffed full of money that isn’t hers, and now there are some decidedly dodgy characters hot on her stiletto heels, determined to get it back… Sizzling hot passion and dangerous pursuits can only mean one thing – there’s going to be big trouble in Paradise.

Book News: Love in the Making by Roisin Meaney

Posted on Monday, November 30th, 2009 by Chloe

roisin meaney - love in the makingRoisin Meaney’s 8th novel Love in the Making is due out on 4th February 2010, and I think the cover looks delicious! It’s wonderfully girly, and couldn’t you just gobble up that cake?! Anyway, the book sounds pretty good as well, so here’s the synopsis:

“Hannah Robinson is just about to open the doors to her new shop Cupcakes on the Corner when out of the blue her boyfriend Patrick announces that he’s leaving her for another woman. Faced with starting a business on her own, Hannah begins to wonder if her life-long dream has just turned into a nightmare. So her best friend Adam sets his birthday as a deadline - seven months to make her shop a success, or walk away from it all. And as Hannah immerses herself in early-morning icing, she soon discovers that she’s too busy to think about Patrick and his now pregnant girlfriend …or to notice an increasingly regular customer who has recently developed a sweet tooth for all things cupcake …But while Hannah is slowly piecing her life back together, family friend Alice’s is falling apart. Her husband Tom’s drinking is getting out of control and things are about to get a whole lot worse. As the seven-month milestone approaches, Hannah must decide her future. And while she’s figuring out what’s really important, it becomes clear to everyone that happiness in life, and in love, is all in the making.”

city dog alison paceAfter leaving her ex-husband Jonathan, Amy Dodge thought she’d write the Next Big American Novel. Instead she’s the author of the highly popular children’s series Run, Carlie, Run starring her very own West Highland Terrier Carlie and the fictional Robert Maguire.

Book Cover: Temptation Street by Shari Low

Posted on Friday, November 27th, 2009 by Leah

shari low temptation streetShari Low’s first book on her return to her original publishers Piaktus, Temptation Street, finally has a book cover. I’m not a huge fan of the dark background but bar that I quite like the book cover! It’s due out on May 6th 2010 and here’s the synopsis:

Have you ever taken a wrong turn into Temptation Street…?

Suze has a niggling feeling that her husband Karl’s marital sat-nav has taken a wrong turn and led him down the road to temptation. What’s a suspicious wife to do?

Mel knows that her sweet, docile husband Joe would never, ever cheat. But when Suze, her sister-in-law, hires a honeytrap to test Karl, the results blow Mel’s world apart.

Mel, Joe, Suze, Karl. They’re family. They’re friends. And they’re about to discover whether or not they can navigate those other F-words – fidelity and forgiveness.

Or is relationship misbehaviour much more fun when it’s a two-way street? …

Book Cover Change: The Celebrity Mother by Deborah Wright

Posted on Friday, November 27th, 2009 by Chloe

deborah wright - celebrity motherNot only has it been postponed from its original release date of last summer, but Deborah Wright’s latest book The Celebrity Mother has also has a pre-release cover change too. I’m glad actually because this one is much more subtle and classy than the brash black and gold number that was previously seen. It’s still due for release on 21st January 2010, and here’s the synopsis again:

“Karina West was once the darling of the gossip pages and the top of the British pop charts. But now all that’s fading away, and she needs something more - something both to make her life more fulfilled and more importantly, to get her back in the tabloids. And how better to achieve this double whammy than by adopting a poor, needy child from a far-off country?

All that sweet, ten-year-old Devika wants is a new mummy who will take her away from her Delhi orphanage and let her have a home and a family again. She prayed to Krishna for this to be so, but was she ready for a blonde, British popstar to sweep her up and back to London?

Karina and Devika are soon front-page news, but neither of them realise just how far their emotional journey will take them.”

Cover Wars: The Celebrity Shopper by Carmen Reid

Posted on Thursday, November 26th, 2009 by Leah

carmen reid celebrity shoppercarmen reid celebrity shopperThe fourth book in Carmen Reid‘s Shopper series featuring Annie Valentine, Celebrity Shopper, is due out on 4th March 2010. Now the synopsis is full of spoilers for those who haven’t read the other books in the series so I’m going to put it underneath a cut.

Now, the first cover I had for Celebrity Shopper was the one on the right (the purple one) but Amazon have this lovely blue one up for the Hardcover release. I think I prefer the blue one… what about you?

booksI got a newsletter today from Adele Parks which mentioned you can bid for a chance to appear in Adele’s next novel! It’s a charity auction held by the Financial Times and Quintessentially in aid of Room To Read and you can bid on items, on EBay, to help raise money for the charity.

Some of the things you can bid for include: Having your name immortalised in print by Adele Parks, Kate Long, Jill Mansell, Jane Fallon, Sue Mongredien (Lucy Diamond), Lisa Jewell, Katie Fforde and Mike Gayle. There are lots of other bids so head on over to Quintessentially to see them all!

The auction is open until November 30th so get clicking.
