Book Cover: The Book of Tomorrow by Cecelia Ahern

Posted on Friday, July 31st, 2009 by Chloe

The Book of Tomorrow UKWell, it looks like we finally have a cover image for Cecelia Ahern’s new book The Book of Tomorrow! We posted the American cover a while ago, but the lovely Bookalicious have found the UK cover so here it is! I think it’s gorgeous and I can’t wait to read a copy of it! Which do you prefer, English or American cover? Here’s the synopsis again:

“Tamara Goodwin has always got everything she’s ever wanted. Born into a family of wealth, she grew up in a mansion with its own private beach, a wardrobe full of designer clothes, a large four poster bed complete with a luxurious bathroom en-suite. She’s always lived in the here and now, never giving a second thought to tomorrow. But then suddenly her dad is gone and life for Tamara and her mother changes forever. Left with a mountain of debt, they have no choice but to sell everything they own and move to the country to live with Tamara’s Uncle and Aunt. Nestled next to Kilsaney Castle, their gatehouse is a world away from Tamara’s childhood. With her mother shut away with grief, and her aunt busy tending to her, Tamara is lonely and bored and longs to return to Dublin. When a travelling library passes through Kilsaney Demesne, Tamara is intrigued. She needs a distraction. Her eyes rest on a mysterious large leather bound tome locked with a gold clasp and padlock. With some help, Tamara finally manages to open the book. What she discovers within the pages takes her breath away and shakes her world to its core. Told in Cecelia’s imitable style, The Girl of Tomorrow is a mesmerising and magical story for this autumn.”

Book News: The Lost Guide to Life and Love by Sharon Griffiths

Posted on Friday, July 31st, 2009 by Chloe

Sharon Griffiths - The Lost Guide to Life and LoveSharon Griffiths’ debut novel The Accidental Time Traveller was a hit with book-readers when it hit the UK markets last summer through Avon. Now Sharon is back with her second novel entitled The Lost Guide to Life and Love, and it’s due out on 7th September 2009. I love the green cover, and I’ll definitely be reading a copy when it’s released. Here’s the synopsis:

“Follow food writer Tilly Flint as she discovers her roots, her sense of adventure and the secret to happiness in this timeless, inventive tale for fans of Eva Rice and Kathleen Tessaro. Do the answers to Tilly Flint’s future lie in her past? In a nightclub full of the rich and famous, a glamorous model leaps from a window and escapes into the night. Food writer Tilly Flint - on a rare date with boyfriend Jake - is sole witness to her flight. Little does she know the chain of events set to unfold! The following week, Tilly and Jake have the last of many arguments, leaving Tilly alone in the wild Pennines landscape where she’s on assignment. Terrified yet strangely exhilarated, she investigates the area - and finds more than a few surprises. Intrigued to learn that, as an only child, she has family in the area, Tilly starts to dig deeper, discovering her great grandmother’s past and the eerie parallels with her own life. As she explores the treacherous moors, she stumbles across mysterious pieces of cherry-red ribbon. What do they signify? And who is the strangely familiar face in the local pub? Then a chance encounter with celebrity Clayton Silver leads Tilly into a high-octane world that spells danger. Can the ribbons from the past be a lifeline in the present? “

Look out for it in the shops from September.
