Apologies for the delay

Posted By Leah on April 1st, 2010

Hi guys,

The site is currently going through a hosting change and as such we’re kind of starting from scratch and having to build everything up again. Please hang with us and we should be back to some sort of normality come Monday.

Thanks,

April Releases

Posted By Leah on April 1st, 2010

There’s a fair few releases this April and the one I’m most looking forward to is undoubtedly Lisa Jewell’s, sequel to Ralph’s Party, After The Party!

Anita Notaro - No Ordinary Love - 1st April 2010

Louisa is fed up with every aspect of her life. Boyfriend, job, flat - all these need an instant and radical makeover. And so she decides to change it all in favour of a carefree existence, exchanging her house for a trailer, her car for a motorbike, and her smart clothes for leisure wear. And, most of all, she starts a new business, as a dog counsellor. With her best friends Maddy and Clodagh she embarks on a new regime - to meet different people, discover new places and find a fabulous new man. Her business brings her immediate and extraordinary rewards, as she meets the owners of dogs whose problems often seem to echo those of their owners. But whatever the stresses of her new life, Louisa has the support of her two friends. If only that could last forever…

Kathleen Tessaro - The Debutante - 1st April 2010

Can the secrets of one woman’s past change another woman’s future? Endsleigh House stands, crumbling and gracious, on the south-west coast of England, its rooms shut up and dusty. But what secrets do they hold? Cate, an exile from New York, is sent to help value the contents of the once-grand Georgian house. Cataloguing its’ contents with Jack - a man with his own dark past, she comes across a hidden shoebox containing an exquisite pair of dancing shoes from the 1930s, along with a mysterious collection of objects: a photograph, a dance card and a Tiffany bracelet. Returning to London, rather than face the questions lingering in her own life, Cate immerses herself in piecing together the clues contained in the box to uncover a story, that of Irene Blythe and her sister Diana - two of the most famous debutantes of their generation. The tale that unfolds is one of dark, addictive love, and leads Cate to face up to secrets of her own. Can the secrets of Baby Blythe’s past change Cate’s own ability to live and love again?

Ruth Saberton - Katy Carter Wants A Hero - 1st April 2010

Katy Carter knows she’s no domestic goddess: she’s scatterbrained, she needs a fire extinguisher at the ready when she’s cooking, and she daily falls off the diet wagon. But that doesn’t stop her fantasising about a hero to call her own. And Katy thinks she’s found him in fiance James, a charming, high-flying city banker. So why, then, does Katy find herself scribbling steamy historical romances every spare moment she gets, and daydreaming about becoming a published author when she ought to be paying attention in staff meetings? As her wedding day looms, Katy determines to become a wife James can be proud of, and employs the help of her best friend Oliver to impress his colleagues and his family. But despite best laid plans, the pair set off a hilarious train of events that leads Katy on a crazy journey through celebrity, chaos, makeovers and, finally, into the arms of her hero…

Lucy Cavendish - A Storm in a Teacup - 1st April 2010

Samantha Smythe has to look after the children, run the house, cook dinner, clear up, be good to her husband, entertain friends, and still find the energy to perform her conjugal rights. She’s beginning to feel invisible, undervalued and fed up. When the chance to stay in a gorgeous chocolate box of a holiday cottage beckons she grasps it with both hands and with a car packed full of luggage and fractious children she heads for the Devon coast. But with no Sky TV and swimming pool and intermittently soggy weather can the calm and happy holiday she’s been hoping for be achieved? Samantha is sure that their lovely beach break is not supposed to be about sulks and rows and everyone wanting to do different things.Where are the cosy cream teas and the rockpooling? And why is her husband so keen to spend most of his holiday in London (where she secretly wants to be…)?Is it possible that he’s finding his relaxation far closer to home?

April Releases from Little Black Dress

Posted By Leah on April 1st, 2010

Three releases this month from Little Black Dress and I have to say I pre-ordered The Not-So-Secret Diary of a City Girl for myself and received it last week. I read it straight away and I loved it and will be reviewing it next week!

Allie Spencer - The Not-So-Secret Diary of a City Girl - 1st April 2010

Can Laura prevent the bank (and her love life) from crashing and burning? Banking analyst Laura McGregor’s electronic diary is full of things which definitely shouldn’t be made public: musings on her lacklustre relationship with trader boyfriend Tom, disturbing irregularities in new boss Will’s trading accounts, and the small matter of her attraction to gorgeous journalist Alex. So when the diary is accidentally uploaded on to the internet in blog form by clueless younger sister Mel, suddenly not only Laura, but her bank too, is facing meltdown and, even worse, Laura suspects Alex of using it as a scoop. Fighting to convince the world’s media to believe her over Alex is one thing, but can Laura win the battle with her heart?

Rekha Waheed - Saris and the City - 15th April 2010

When ambitious City analyst Yasmin Yusuf’s hope for a traditional ‘happy ever after’ in the romance stakes is shattered she decides there’s only one course of action: get smart, sexy and successful. And what better way to achieve it than by turning around a failing lingerie company? Swept head-first into her glamorous new job by suave private banker Zachary Khan, Yasmin is soon clashing with snobby fashionistas, pedantic accountants, her culturally conservative Bengali family and, worst of all, Hannah Gibbs-Smythson, Zach’s indomitable senior advisor. With the odds stacked against her and her attraction to Zach complicating matters even further, the stakes for Yasmin have never been higher… Is she prepared to risk everything for the success she craves?

Niamh Shaw - About Time - 29th April 2010

Plug yourself in to this hilarious, high-voltage romance from Niamh Shaw. Unlucky-in-love Lara sure knows how to pick ’em – losers, that is. But who can blame her when she’s never gotten over having her heart (and self-esteem) smashed to pieces by her one and only true love, the super-intelligent, super-geeky, and super-emotionally-inept Conn? Six years later, working alongside her ex on an energy-generating project in Dubai is the last thing Lara expected. It’s not long before sparks are flying, but can Lara trust Conn with her heart again?
