Heather Hamilton wishes for a lot of things: that she could get a seat on the tube, that she could meet a great man and that she could eat a bag of maltesers without gaining a stone in weight. Typical small wishes that we wish for every day.

Her wishes never come true until one day Heather buys some heather (irony!) from a gypsy and suddenly everything Heather wishes for seems to be coming true. She gets a flatmate, she loses 5lbs, she even gets a fab boyfriend.

Gemma Burgess’s debut novel, The Dating Detox, is due for release on December 24th and I read on Gemma’s website that if you emailed her, you could get the first three chapters. I did so and I also asked if it was OK to post them on the site and Gemma said yes! So… here they are. I’ve just seen online that fabulous chick lit author Cecelia Ahern has given birth to her first child! The baby is a girl who has been named Robin, and both mummy and baby are said to be doing well!
