Book News: Win A Copy of Twenties Girl (US ONLY)

    June 3rd, 2009 by Leah

I’ve just had a Sophie Kinsella newsletter saying that Random House have 30 galleys (early copies) of Sophie Kinsella’s new novel Twenties Girl to give away. Head over to the website to enter your name. US RESIDENTS ONLY. (You have no idea how much that kills me - I wish I lived in the US!) Hurry though the offer expires June 10th.

Twenties Girl is out July 21st and the synopsis reads:

It’s about twenty-something Lara Lington, who gets an unlikely visit from none other than her great aunt Sadie’s ghost! Sadie is a feisty, 1920s girl with firm ideas on fashion, love and the right way to dance… and she has a mission for Lara: track down her missing necklace. Lara and Sadie make a hilarious, sparring duo, and at first it seems as though they have nothing in common. But as the mission turns to intrigue and then romance, perhaps they can learn some surprising lessons from each other. It’s a fun, sparkly book, with two great new heroines, and I really hope you enjoy it.

Oh dear! I too received this newsletter and entered the competition. As you know, I’m British and live in England. I never read anywhere about it being US residents only. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure you’re right. I’m just annoyed with myself that I didn’t notice that myself. Looks like I wasted my time by entering! Oh well.

It’s at the bottom of the page. I can’t believe the publishers would make a competition of a British author US Only. Very annoying to us British fans!

I knoooow, it kills me too that I can’t win this advanced copy because I really truly cannot wait to finally read it! Grrr, why did they have to limit it to US only? :( I was already contemplating of asking someone from the US to enter the competition and then send me the book if I win, but then decided against it as it would be too much hassle. Guess we’ll just have to wait for about a month and a half … *sigh* But I’m sooooooooo excited! :D

I can’t wait to read it either. By the time it got to you, you’ll have already read it if you did it that way! I so can’t wait for Twenties Girl. Sophie always delivers!

I love your site, by the way, and will add it to our blog roll! x

ps: I just checked Sophie’s website and it’s been redesigned - it now features both heroines, Lara & Sadie! Judging by her sidebar, the US cover has also changed and personally I like the new US look better. :) Have I mentioned how very excited I am?! :D

      Thank you! :)

Trufax, Sophie is the queen! :) So which of her books is your favourite? I’d have a hard time choosing, but I’d probably go with Remember Me? or The Undomestic Goddess. I’d love more books from the Shopaholic series (which I also adored), but I’m sure TG will be fabulous too!

My favourite Sophie… Confessions of a Shopaholic or Shopaholic & Sister as well as The Undomestic Goddess and Remember Me?. But I love them all! I would LOVE more Becky Bloomwood, she’s one of my favourite characters ever!
