Book News: I Remember You by Harriet Evans

Posted on Friday, June 5th, 2009 by Leah

The cover has been released for Harriet Evans’ new novel I Remember You which is due out 29th October. The synopsis reads:

Tess Tennant is moving away from London to the sleepy picture-perfect town where she grew up, to teach at the illustrious Langford College. She finds a cottage to share with a burnt-out city lawyer called Francesca. Around the corner is her childhood best friend Adam, who she’s always loved like a brother ! Rural life isn’t quite how Tess remembers it.

Bored, she returns to London for a big night out with Adam but it all ends in tears. Heartbroken and heartsick,Tess has to take her class on a trip to Rome to visit the classical monuments, and she’s in the mood to be reckless. Rome in May is beautiful, filled with the scent of jasmine and warm sunshine, and soon Tess is being swept off her feet by a charming stranger who takes her round the city for a magical week and she soon forgets the complicated problems waiting for her at home.

But when she does return to Langford,Tess finds a note from Adam saying he’s leaving for a while. What happened between them when they were young? And what is the secret of his mysterious past?

It sounds quite an interesting read and the cover is beautiful. I love the postcard effect of the cover.

No Reservations, the new novel by Fiona O’Brien was released yesterday, June 4th, and one we seem to have missed from our June Releases list. The synopsis reads:

Sexy doctor P.J. O’Sullivan is one of Dom’s best customers. Five years on he still struggles to cope with the death of his beloved wife. Will he find true love again?

Book News: After the Break by Penny Smith

Posted on Friday, June 5th, 2009 by Chloe

penysmithafterthebreakI have finally been able to track down a synopsis of Penny Smith’s new novel After the Break due out at the end of this month. It’s a sequel to her debut novel Coming Up Next, which sadly I didn’t enjoy at all! Here’s the synopsis:

“Katie Fisher, one-time presenter of breakfast TV show Hello Britain!, nearly has her life in perfect order. She’s recovered from her humiliating dismissal, improved her relationship with the drinks cabinet and, most importantly, found a gorgeous new TV producer boyfriend.

But her dream job as a chat show host has come to an end and there doesn’t seem to be much work around - she’s starting to get worried. Then she’s offered a place on Celebrity X-treme - the latest celebrity-humiliating reality show. But is a reality TV program really a good idea? Will it save her career or be the final blow? And just how tempting are two weeks in a freezing cabin in Norway, with a group of people no one’s quite heard of? Very tempting - when the pay check is that big.

So Katie takes the risk - along with a page 3 model, an out-of-work soap actor, an old, failed comedian and some woman who had an affair with a politician. She’s soon out of her depth, as scheming producers do everything in their power to get the show they want - it’s going to take all Katie’s good humour and bad puns to bounce back from this one.”

If it sounds like your cup of tea, its in the shops from June 25th published by Harper Collins.
