Cover Wars: The Secrets We Keep by Colette Caddle

Posted on Thursday, December 3rd, 2009 by Leah

colette caddle the secrets we keepthe secrets we keep colette caddleI’m a huge fan of Colette Caddle, I loved Red Letter Day, and I am so pleased her covers have had a re-design and that they finally look modern. Colette’s latest, The Secrets We Keep, which is due out on 4th March 2010 has two cracking covers. My copy of The Secrets We Keep is the one on the right and the paperback cover is the one on the left. I adore both. I’d merge the cover photograph on the right with the font colour on the left! How about you? Here’s the synopsis for those interested:

Four years ago Erin Joyce left Dublin under a cloud and bought a guesthouse in the remote, beautiful village of Dunbarra. The Gatehouse attracts a strange clutch of guests who, once ensconced, never want to leave. There’s Hazel, a shy artist, and her sweet, silent daughter Gracie. Sandra, a brash American, wants to know everything about everyone. Then there’s wise old easy-going PJ, who’s seemingly part of the furniture.

But Erin’s fragile happiness is thrown off-balance by the arrival of A-list Hollywood actor Sebastian Grey. Erin finds herself drawn to this handsome enigmatic man, who used to walk with a swagger but now prowls the country lanes with haunted eyes. What trauma could have brought about this devastating change? Sebastian isn’t the only one in the Gatehouse with a secret. Why is Hazel cast so adrift? Where does PJ go each week without fail, and what really brought Sandra to Dunbarra? As Erin finds herself embroiled in her guests’ secrets she starts to ask herself: will she be ready to reveal her own?

Name Change: Wild Things by Jo Carnegie

Posted on Thursday, December 3rd, 2009 by Chloe

jo carnegie wild thingsWe posted a while ago about Jo Carnegie’s 3rd Churchminster novel being called Role Play but that appears to have changed since then. The book is now to be called Wild Things and is still due out 29th April 2010. We also have the fantastic cover - who knew purple and green went so well together? Here’s the synopsis:

“The Churchminster residents are thrilled when a glamorous film crew descends on their quiet village. But with just four months to prepare for the final of the ‘Britain’s Best Village Competition’, the chaotic filming schedule may do more damage than good. Meanwhile Camilla grows suspicious of the attention boyfriend Jed is receiving from the film’s demanding leading lady. And younger sister Calypso has caught the penetrating eye of dashing leading man ‘Rafe Wolfe’. Brim-full with lavish garden parties, illicit affairs, sordid shenanigans and a sneaky bit of sabotage, not to mention a spot of fundraising with ‘Churchminster’s Got Talent’.”

    Author Interview: Victoria Connelly

Posted on Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009 by Leah

victoria connellyI really loved Victoria Connelly’s debut English novel Molly’s Millions so I was thrilled when Victoria agreed to do an interview with us. Now you may have noticed I say her debut novel was her debut ENGLISH novel, that’s because Victoria had her first three books published in German which is a huge shame to us who don’t speak German and who would love to read them! Come on English publishers, get them published! I want to read ‘em. Anyway… let’s get onto the interview:

    1. Describe your latest novel in a sentence.

Molly’s Millions is a romantic comedy about a lottery winner who tries to give it all away before her tight-fisted family and the media catch up with her.

    2. What, if anything, are you currently working on?

I’m working on the first book in a trilogy about Jane Austen addicts.

Book Cover: The Importance of Being A Bachelor by Mike Gayle

Posted on Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009 by Leah

mike gayle the importance of being a bachelorMike Gayle is one of my favourite authors and I’m so pleased when I see he has a new book out. His next release, The Importance of Being A Bachelor, is due for release on 13th May 2010 and the cover has finally been released. Mike’s books have only recently been re-designed but it seems they’ve gone through yet another re-design. I have to admit, I prefer the cover for The Life & Soul of the Party.

Despite the example of their own parents’ enduring marriage, the three Bachelor brothers show no signs of settling down. Adam has a string of glamorous girlfriends, but they aren’t suitable wife material. Luke has just proposed to Cassie but his refusal to consider having children looks like an insurmountable barrier. And baby of the family Russell is in love with the one woman he can’t have.

Then their father announces he has been thrown out of the family home and this forces all three brothers to examine their own priorities. Are all three Bachelor brothers totally hopeless cases or just late starters?

Ralph, Marnie and Oliver once knew each other well and are still inextricably bound by ties of love and betrayal.

Now they meet again in Ralph’s secluded cottage in the Scottish highlands, to spend the precious days that Ralph has left with each other. As they reminisce, Marnie is taken back to the summer years ago when everything changed between them and heartbreak and desire broke up their little group. Will Ralph have the chance to say what needs to be said before it’s too late? And can they put the devastating events of twenty years ago to rest and rekindle the intimacy they once shared?

Gemma Burgess - The Dating Detox - 24th DecemberThe Dating Detox by Gemma Burgess

If you can’t date anyone nice, don’t date anyone at all. Dating is a dangerous sport. So after her sixth successive failed relationship, romantically-challenged 20-something Sass decides she’s had enough. The Dating Sabbatical is born. No men, no break-ups, no problem. The result? Her life – up till now joyfully/traumatically occupied with the Holy Trinity of dates, clothes and vodka – suddenly goes from bumpy to smooth.

Chastity rocks. No wonder nuns are always singing. Everything seems to fall at her feet. Especially men. Will Sass break the rules before the three-month Dating Sabbatical is up? Why does fate keep throwing her in the path of the irritatingly amusing Jake? Will she ever roll the dice and play again? Or is a love-free life too good to risk losing?

Look out for the first three chapters of The Dating Detox, which we’ll be posting soon!
