Author Interview: Jessica Ruston

Posted By Leah on November 18th, 2009

jessicarustonJessica Ruston’s debut novel Luxury is getting some rave reviews from the newspapers, magazines and Amazon.co.uk and if you haven’t bagged your copy yet then why on Earth not? It has a beautiful cover and sounds fantastic (see below). The lovely Jessica agreed to do an author interview with us and here are her answers!

1. Tell us about your debut novel Luxury?

Luxury is based around the rivalry between two luxury hotel tycoons who met at college - Logan Barnes and Nicolo Flores. They fell out - over a woman, as is so often the case - and have been at loggerheads ever since. It’s also a family drama in many ways - the Barnes family is falling apart at the seams somewhat. Logan’s wife, Maryanne, is a pill-popping socialite, his daughter is an ambitious it-girl - maybe too ambitious; his son is a laid back musician who is torn between following his heart and doing what his father wants him to. When the novel opens, Logan is about to open the biggest and most opulent hotel of his career - Luxury - on a magical private island. But Nicolo is out to bring him down… There’s plenty of scandal, intrigue, sex and designer shoes…

Book Cover: How To Be Married by Polly Williams

polly williams how to be marriedPolly Williams‘s fourth novel, How To Be Married, was due to be released in May this year (under the title The World’s Worst Wife) but was instead delayed until 4th March 2010 due to Polly moving publishers from Sphere to Headline. We now have the rather beautiful cover which is miles better than The World’s Worst Wife cover! Here’s the synopsis for How To Be Married:

Domestic goddess? Yummy mummy? Having it all? It’s impossible. It’s hard to be a woman. It’s even harder to be a wife…

Sadie Drew thinks she must be the world’s worst wife. She only needs to walk into a room to make it untidy. She wears flannel pyjamas in bed. She can’t cook. Furry things live in her fridge. But she’s a busy, working mother not a wifebot, and her husband Tom loves her as she is. Until he gets a new, high-pressure job and things start to change.

There are his colleagues’ terrifying uber-wives to entertain. Tom works later and later. Then there are the endless rows, and the smell of another woman’s perfume on his suit. Sadie has a choice: risk losing everything or transform herself into the perfect wife.

What is a perfect wife anyway?
