Book Synopsis: After The Party by Lisa Jewell

Posted By Chloe on January 27th, 2010

A month or so after the release of the cover for Lisa Jewell’s next book After the Party, the synopsis has been released! It’s due out on 15th April 2010, and is the sequel to Lisa’s debut novel Ralph’s Party. So here’s the synopsis for those who have been waiting for this! Beware, there are spoilers for those who haven’t read Ralph’s Party…

“It’s eleven years since Jem Catterick and Ralph McLeary first got together. They thought it would be for ever, that they’d found their happy ending. As everyone agreed, they were the perfect couple. Then two became four, a flat became a house. Romantic nights out became sleepless nights in. And they soon found that life wasn’t quite so simple any more. But through it all Jem and Ralph still loved each other, of course they did. Now the unimaginable has happened. Two people who were so right together are starting to drift apart. And in the chaos of family life, Ralph feels more and more as if he’s standing on the sidelines, and Jem that she’s losing herself. Something has to change. As they try to find a way back to each other, back to what they once had, they both become momentarily distracted - but maybe it’s not too late to recapture happily ever after …A warm and involving novel that will restore your faith in life, love and the power of starting over, “After the Party” is Lisa Jewell at her unforgettable best.”

lisa jewell - after the partyLisa Jewell’s next book is a follow-up to her debut novel Ralph’s Party which is to be called After The Party, and I’ve found the cover online so here it is. I’m not a huge fan I have to say, I think it’s a little bit bland and not particularly outstanding but hopefully the story instead will be great! Book Cover: The Truth About Melody Browne by Lisa Jewell (paperback)

Posted By Chloe on September 2nd, 2009

51DH7Odt-lL__SL500_AA240_I know Leah has already read and reviewed Lisa Jewell’s latest book The Truth About Melody Browne but I have always hated that cover, so I was really pleased when I saw the much nicer cover for the paperback edition on Amazon today! It’s much brighter and bolder, and looks far more like something I want to read! So what do you think - do you prefer the older hardback cover as seen on Leah’s review, or the new paperback edition?

Book News: Ralph's Party Sequel by Lisa Jewell

Posted By Leah on June 13th, 2009

Lisa Jewell has posted on her blog that she has finished the first draft of the Ralph’s Party sequel. She says she will be spending all of this month editing it and whipping it into shape:

I’m a bit previous this month as it’s actually still May but given that I will be spending all of June whipping my ginormous, oversized, 500 page Ralph’s Party sequel into shape, I thought I should get going on this while things are still relatively calm. I finally delivered the monster book on May 15th. Delivery is a weird thing, half joyous relief, half cold, slow dread, with a soupcon of anti-climax, so it’s always a good idea to fill the days immediately afterwards with lots of nice things to take your mind off it – and possibly lots of alcohol too. Towards the end of the book I was writing into the night, up to six thousand words a day. It’s a crazy, slightly surreal time and thank God it only happens once a year! Anyway, my editor has now got back to me and suggested that I give it a thoroughly good trimming (which I knew she would, it is stupidly long) and that I needed to do a lot of work on making one of the characters more sympathetic (which I hadn’t expected, but I can totally see her point) so a lot of work to do, but for today the sun is shining and I am in denial, catching up with myself and dreaming about an afternoon in the garden with my girls!

No date for release but I would assume it might be out in 2010. It will also be interesting to hear what the title will be… I enjoyed Ralph’s Party so will have to give it another read!
