Posted By Danielle on September 25th, 2011

Being that Stephanie Plum is one of Leah’s all time favorite characters I thought that this new trailer for the movie based on Janet Evanovich’s successful series would be fun to share. One for the Money is due in theaters here in the US in January of 2012 and it looks hilarious! It’s definitely going on my to-see list and I’m also making a note to pick up the book series ASAP!

Take a look and you tell me…will you be watching One for the Money?

Vanessa Diffenbaugh’s New York Times bestseller list novel The Language of Flowers has been optioned for a movie by Elizabeth Gabler at Fox 2000! I’m really excited and would definitely be looking out for this one when it’s released as I adored the book and thing it would make a beautiful film!

Lucy Fisher and Douglas Wick, producers of Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming The Great Gatsby, are producing Language of Flowers through their Red Wagon Banner for Fox 2000.

“Great characters make great movies and these are the most vivid and compelling women we have read in a long, long time,” added Fisher and Wick. “Fox 2000 is a perfect home for this movie and we are beyond thrilled to be working with Elizabeth and Carla.”

Film rights to the book were represented Sylvie Rabineau of RWSG working together with Diffenbaugh’s literary agent Sally Wofford-Girand of Brick House Literary Agents.Film rights were represented by Sylvie Rabineau of RWSG and publishing rights by Sally Wofford-Girand of Brick House Literary Agents.

AW Movie News: Flavorwire’s Top Ten Chick Lit Movies

Posted By Danielle on August 21st, 2011

Earlier this week Flavorwire named their Top Ten Chick Lit books to movies. I was eager to see which ones they had on their list and see how my own would compare. Pleasantly surprised, they included a few of my picks and a few I’d almost forgotten about. They did include a couple I absolutely couldn’t stand like The Bridge’s of Madison County, but it also had a couple I’m interested to watch now like In Her Shoes which was originally written by Jennifer Weiner. Stop by and take a look at Flavorwire’s choices, but in the meantime here are a few of my favorites(remember these are all books to movies)…

An Ideal Husband by Oscar Wilde (This is an absolute must see! My very favorite!)

The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger

Romeo & Juliet directed by Bazz Luhrmann

Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin

The Help by Kathryn Stockett

I Don’t Know How She Does It by Allison Pearson

One Day by David Nicholls

What do you think? Do you have any favorite book to movie Chick Flicks you couldn’t do without?

AW TV News: ‘The Carrie Diaries’ Eyed As TV Series For The CW

Posted By Danielle on August 19th, 2011

With TV shows like The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, Nakita and 90210 The CW is a prime candidate for a TV take on author Candice Bushnell’s recent book about Sex & the City’s Carrie Bradshaw’s high school years, The Carrie Diaries. According to Deadline the following is being considered…

There are no deals in place, and talks are in preliminary stages, but I hear that Warner Bros TV would produce and Gossip Girl executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are being courted to shepherd the project through their Warner Bros TV-based Fake Empire banner. Former Sex and the City writer/producer Amy Harris, who is writing for Gossip Girl this season, will likely pen the adaptation.

Because it previously adapted Bushnell’s Sex and the City into a hugely popular series, HBO has the rights to The Carrie Diaries, a young-adult novel that chronicles Carrie’s senior year of high school in a small New England town. But since the book is much younger skewing than HBO’s audience, the pay cable network had been seeking another outlet for the potential series. “Discussions are underway for The Carrie Diaries, Candice Bushnell’s book about Carrie Bradshaw’s high school years, to find a home as a potential television series,” HBO said in a statement.

Obviously, this is just speculation, but I’m incredibly excited for this potential spin-off and I think The CW would be an excellent host. In the recent past every series I’ve viewed from The CW has been well developed and had wonderful actors. I’ll definitely be keeping my fingers crossed for this one for sure!

Are you a fan of The Sex and the City series? Would you be open to watching a series about Carrie’s high school years and do you think The CW would do a good job at representing the series?

AW Book News: My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend by Elodia Strain

Posted By Danielle on July 15th, 2011

Jesse is looking for the “right guy.” When she bumps into Ethan, a despairing writer who she inspires, she thinks she’s found him. But only moments later she meets Troy, a successful advertising executive who makes almost every moment romantic. Both seem perfect, but things are not always what they seem. My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend is a fun romance that blends warm sincerity with fresh storytelling.

Recently, while taking a look some new releases coming out in the next few months I stumbled upon My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend by Elodia Strain on NetGalley. This was actually a book that had me thinking I’d seen it somewhere before and I wasn’t wrong! My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend was originally released as a movie back in 2010 and has recently made it’s way to the printed page. I’m always surprised when this happens because it seems more often to go from book to movie and not the other way around, but maybe that’s only what I pay attention to. Who knows?

So, what do you think? Does the idea of a Chick Flick turned into Chick Lit appeal to you? The book releases August 8th and I’m definitely going to pick it up, plus I’ll probably even watch the movie in the next couple of weeks because it looks fabulous! Take a look at the synopsis and possibly watch the movie trailer below, then tell me what you think in the comments!

AW Movie News: Chateau Marmont Mini-Series

Posted By Danielle on July 1st, 2011

For decades the legendary Hollywood landmark, Chateau Marmont has served as a source of inspiration, retreat and much more for numerous stars. Not only has it appeared in movies and been the residence for blockbuster Hollywood actors & actresses, it’s also been the focus for a few books including one by the famous Lauren Weisberger aptly named Last Night at Chateau Marmont. So, it should come as no shock that Hollywood’s up and coming stars are now focusing on it as the source of a new mini-series for HBO. To be honest, I can hardly wait to see this! Not only because of the big stars that will most likely be featured throughout the show, but I’m such a huge fan of “Old Hollywood” and I’m really interested to see how it’s portrayed in this series. I’m also eager to see who John Krasinski from The Office might be playing. Take a look at the press release from Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: The Chateau Marmont, which for the past 80 years has served as the backdrop of major events in Hollywood history and the lives of its famous inhabitants, will now take front stage in a miniseries from The Office star John Krasinski and Aaron Sorkin. Oscar winner Sorkin will write the mini, now in early development, which will be based on the book Life At The Marmont by former Chateau Marmont co-owner Raymond R. Sarlot and Fred Basten. Krasinski, who has been the driving force behind the project, and Sorkin will executive produce with Chateau Marmont’s current owner Andre Balazs and his daughter Alessandra. Krasinski is also expected to play a role in the as-yet-untitled miniseries, which will tell the interconnected stories of the people who frequented the famed Hollywood landmark over several generations. Since the 1930s, the building, originally built as an apartment complex in the late 1920s and then converted into a hotel, has been the epicenter of Hollywood, attracting film and television actors, literary greats and rock stars. Cont. at Deadline…

So, you tell me, does a Chateau Marmont mini-series with stars from Old and New Hollywood sound appealing to you?

AW Movie News: Safe Haven to be made into a movie!

Posted By Leah on June 19th, 2011

I don’t know about you, but I find it hugely impressive that most of Nicholas Sparks’ novels have been made into movies. A Walk To Remember, The Notebook, Nights In Rodanthe, Dear John, The Last Song and his novel called The Lucky One starring Zac Efron will be out soon, too. The latest Sparks novel to be made into a movie is his most recent Safe Haven. I’ve read it just a few weeks back and I loved it and I can totally see the movie potential there, so it’s one I’ll be keeping my eye out for, definitely. Here’s the press release, taken from thewrap.com:

He directed 2010′s “Dear John,” also based on a Sparks novel, and has directed a raft of adaptations, including the 1985 “My Life as a Dog,” the 1999 “The Cider House Rules,” the 2001 “The Shipping News” and the 2000 “Chocolat.”

And Sparks’s novels have been adapted quite a few times. In addition to “Dear John,” he wrote “The Notebook,” “The Last Song” and “Nights in Rodanthe.” “Safe Haven” is a love story about a young woman who runs to a small town in North Carolina to start a new life. There, she falls for a widower who, according to Relativity, “helps her escape the danger that threatens her.”

The movie is set to go into production this year. Relativity’s CEO, Ryan Kavanaugh, is producing, as is Sparks and Temple Hill Entertainment’s Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey. Dana Stevens wrote the screenplay.

I’ve only seen A Walk To Remember (and when I saw it, I didn’t even know it was based on a novel). I will definitely be seeing Safe Haven though! Which other Sparks movies would you guys recommend and, most importantly, should I read the book adaptations first?!
