Chick Flick Tuesday: The Blind Side

Posted By Chloe on January 11th, 2011

Chick Flick Tuesday highlights the best chick flicks in the movie world as well as bringing you news on upcoming chick flick releases as well as letting you all know about which chick lit books are being made into chick flick movies!

Chick Flick Tuesday is back for 2011! I have chosen something this week that isn’t typically what you would class as a chick flick, but after seeing it at the weekend, this film is very moving, inspirational and fantastic to watch all at once, and it stars the ever-brilliant Sandra Bullock, and her performance in it makes it a must see! I was riveted through the whole film, and the whole cast are just great - it really does make you think about how we judge people and how far a little kindness and compassion can go, and I can certainly see why so many people have made such a fuss about it, it’s a superb film.

“Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron) knows little about family. Less about football. What the homeless teen knows are the streets and projects of Memphis. Well-to-do Leigh Anne Tuohy (Sandra Bullock) knows little about his world. Yet when she and Michael meet, he’s found a home. And the Tuohys have found something just as life-changing: a beloved new son and brother. This real-life story of family and of Michael’s growth into a blue-chip football star will have you cheering with its mix of gridiron action and heartwarming emotion. Share the remarkable journey of the college All-American and first-round NFL draft pick who was a winner before he ever stepped onto the playing field.”

Cover Wars: The Truth About You by Melissa Hill

Posted By Chloe on January 11th, 2011

I was browsing through Facebook today and found that Melissa Hill has added the new book cover for her latest novel The Truth About You, which is out in paperback in April 2011. I read and loved the book this year, and I think the new cover is even nicer than the original one we posted back at the hardback release in May. Which do you prefer?!

One morning in the small town of Lakeview, Ella Harris finds a cardboard box on the doorstop of her café. At first she thinks it’s her usual muffin delivery but is shocked to find that the box actually contains a newborn baby. But what kind of mother would abandon a defenceless baby like that, and why? Could it have been newly single Nina who, after being rejected by the father of her unborn child, has no choice but to return to Lakeview to stay with her estranged (and slightly peculiar) dad?

Or was it Lakeview-born Hollywood actress Eva Seymour, who on the eve of her triumphant return home from LA, has a completely ill-advised fling with a handsome co-star. A baby is certain to ruin her hard-fought-for career. Or perhaps it’s happily married Jess who, as the only non-mum amongst her friends, finds herself increasingly left out. Terrified that she will lose them altogether, she embarks on becoming a mother too. But is she really rushing into something she really knows nothing about?
