Book Review: The Crying Tree by Naseem Rakha

When Irene Stanley’s son, Shep, is shot dead, aged 15, in their Oregon home, the Stanley family only have one thing in mind: to see Shep’s killer Daniel Robbin sentenced to death. It isn’t until 19 years later, though, that the message finally comes through that Robbin has stopped his appeals and will be put to death within a month.

A lot has changed in the intervening years since Shep’s death and Irene is keeping a terrible secret from her family. One that will shock the family to their core when they find out exactly what Irene has done to get over her son’s death. A revelation that will cause further secrets to spill out, about Shep, about what happened the day he died and about how little she really knows about her own flesh and blood.

In October there are some fantastic looking books being released including new releases from Martina Reilly, Lucy Dawson and Veronica Henry along with a short story collection from Sheila O’Flangan as well as a debut novel from Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and Julie Cohen has her first dip of a non-Little Black Dress novel!

October Releases from Little Black Dress

There’s just the one release from Little Black Dress in October but it sounds like another good one! However, we do have an announcement to make: we will be celebrating all that is Little Black Dress novels in December, from the 6th until the 10th (you can see our graphic on the sidebar). Reviewing a ton of LBD books, interviewing some LBD authors and hopefully having a fab competition so we hope you’ll join us to celebrate the fantastic Little Black Dress imprint!
