Book Review: I Heart Paris by Lindsey Kelk

Posted By Chloe on July 5th, 2010

Angela Clark is back again, and this time she’s off to the city of love… Paris! Angela and her boyfriend Alex are quite happy trundling along in their relationship, but when Alex is told that his band has to go to Paris to promote themselves and their album, he wants Angela to come along too. She mentions it to her boss at TheLook.com where she blogs, and they quickly hook her up with a column in prestigious fashion magazine Belle to write a feature on Paris, and the trendiest parts.

Angela’s somewhat worried, and it’s not helped by the fact things seem to go wrong right from the off for her when she lands in Paris, on a separate plane to Alex as well. As she struggles around the city with her guide sent to her by the French edition of Belle, Angela starts to find out more about Alex’s past that she really didn’t want to know, and even starts to doubt where she actually wants to be. Yes, she might “heart” Paris, but is Angela’s own heart really where it wants to be?

Title Change: All I Want For Christmas by Amy Silver

Posted By Leah on July 5th, 2010

Amy Silver’s second book has had a title change before it’s release on 11th November 2010. It was originally going to be called Twelve Days of Christmas (the same as Trisha Ashley’s new one which is out in October) but appears to have been changed to All I Want For Christmas. It sounds much more complex than her debut novel and I can’t wait to read it.

There are only twelve days until Christmas, and beauty editor Olivia is panicking. Somehow she has managed to invite all her fiance’s family to her flat for Christmas dinner, and of course she needs to handle everything herself. So with all these distractions it’s no wonder she doesn’t notice the cyclist whizzing round the corner as she steps off the pavement. Bea sees the accident from her newly decorated cafe window. She’s struggling with her own demons this Christmas as she tries to set aside her heartbreak over her husband’s death for the sake of her small son. Her more immediate problem, however, seems to be the annoying woman in the corner who refuses to put her mobile phone away despite the signs. Chloe is frantically trying to get hold of her married lover. She’s not sure how, but over the past year her life has narrowed to include just her work as a solicitor, and the snatched moments she spends with Michael. All her friends have abandoned her and she seems incapable of making any more. So what on earth will she do if he doesn’t leave his wife and come on holiday with her as he’s promised? Three very different women, with three very different problems. Perhaps a little Christmas spirit will show them the way to help each other. And can the scent of romance that’s been floating round the cafe unnoticed for a while now finally work its magic on Bea?

Book News: Stand By Me by Sheila O’Flanagan

Posted By Leah on July 5th, 2010

A few months ago we posted about Sheila O’Flanagan’s next book telling you all it would be called Stand By Me. It’s due out on September 16th and the synopsis has been released. There’s no cover yet but I have a feeling it’ll be just as good as the cover for The Perfect Man. I’m hugely looking forward to Stand By Me, as I love Sheila’s books. Here’s the synopsis:

Dominique (‘Domino’) lives a charmed existence as wife to one of Ireland’s most successful businesssmen, Brendan Delahaye – until the day Brendan disappears, leaving his company in disarray and Domino and their daughter alone to face the music. STAND BY ME is the story of Domino’s recovery and her journey from obliging and dependent wife to a stronger and happier woman, with a new man ready to step into the gap left by her deserting husband. And that’s when Brendan comes home, handsome and charismatic as ever, expecting life to carry on just as it was before…
