Book Review: The Perfect Man by Sheila O'Flanagan

Posted By Leah on September 1st, 2009

sheilatheperfectmanThe Perfect Man tells the story of Britt and Mia McDonagh, two sisters who have totally opposite opinions when it comes to love. Britt, whose debut novel The Perfect Man was an instant success, doesn’t believe in romance since her marriage broke up but Mia, single mother to Allegra, believes in The One and is still in love with her ex, Alejo.

The two sisters go on a cruise, a ship named Aphrodite, to speak about Britt’s book and meet Leo, who is hiding a heart break and Steve, who works on the ship. Nothing seems to happen until they all go home (to Dublin and Spain) and they all have to take risks if they want a happy future.

Book News: Poor Little Bitch Girl by Jackie Collins

Posted By Leah on September 1st, 2009

jackie collins poor little bitch girlJackie Collins, the Queen of women’s fiction, has her new book, her 27th, out on 1st October called Poor Little Bitch Girl. My mum is a huge fan of Jackie’s and has all of her books. I quite like the simplicity of the cover. The synopsis reads:

First there’s Denver Jones, the hotshot attorney working in L.A. and Carolyn Henderson - personal assistant to a powerful and very married Senator in Washington with whom she is having an affair. Then there’s Annabelle Maestro - daughter of two movie stars - who has carved out a career for herself in New York as the madame of choice for discerning famous men.

The three twenty-something women used to go to high school together in Beverly Hills and Denver and Carolyn have always kept in touch, but Annabelle is out on her own with her cocaine addicted boyfriend Frankie. Bobby is Frankie’s best friend - Bobby Santangelo Stanislopolous, that is, Kennedy-esque son of Lucky Santangelo and deceased Greek shipping billionaire Dimitri Stanislopolous. Now he owns Mood, the hottest club in New York, but back in the day he went to high school with Denver, Carolyn and Annabelle, and hung out with all three of them.

Which means that Bobby knows everyone’s secrets - and he has some of his own, too.

And for the Lucky fans out there, Jackie is working on her 7th Lucky Santangelo novel due out in 2010!
