Book Cover: Gallery Girl by Wendy Holden

Posted By Chloe on May 12th, 2010

Wendy Holden’s next book Gallery Girl is due out on 19th August 2010, and here’s the lovely cover for it. I really like it, I think it looks summery and very pretty! However, I haven’t read one of Wendy’s books in a while so I might try and get back into Wendy’s work with this one! Here’s the summary:

“Zeb’s the darling of Brit Art; the rock n’ roll bad boy artist whose works go for bazillions. But can he keep his end up – in every sense – now that his powerful female patron is losing interest? Beth loves art and the traditional gallery she works in and loves her boyfriend, doctor David. But the hospital hours he keeps are putting a strain on the relationship. Marie’s pop-star husband was big in the Nineties; he’s relaunching his boy band with a vengeance. But where does this leave Marie and her dreams of being a painter? Ben’s a brilliant portrait artist but no-one wants his stuff. Why have a picture that actually looks like you when you could have a gold-sprayed prosthetic limb? Disillusioned Ben’s reduced to living in the country and holding adult education life classes. But what happened to his life? Then Beth finds herself catapulted into the crazed world of contemporary art. Marie walks into Ben’s life class. And the picture changes completely.”

Book Cover: Last Letter From Your Lover by Jojo Moyes

Posted By Chloe on April 16th, 2010

While Jojo Moyes work isn’t perhaps classed as chick-lit, I was tempted to post it simply due to the beautiful cover of her book The Last Letter From Your Lover, so I did! I received a copy of this from the publishers and it was wrapped in brown paper and a pink ribbon, and looked so beautiful I really can’t wait to read it now. It’s due out 8th July and here’s the synopsis:

“When journalist Ellie looks through her newspaper’s archives for a story, she doesn’t think she’ll find anything of interest. Instead she discovers a letter from 1960, written by a man asking his lover to leave her husband – and Ellie is caught up in the intrigue of a past love affair. Despite, or perhaps because of her own romantic entanglements with a married man.

In 1960, Jennifer wakes up in hospital after a car accident. She can’t remember anything – her husband, her friends, who she used to be. And then, when she returns home, she uncovers a hidden letter, and begins to remember the lover she was willing to risk everything for.

Ellie and Jennifer’s stories of passion, adultery and loss are wound together in this richly emotive novel – interspersed with real ‘last letters’.”

Book Cover: Mini Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella

Posted By Chloe on April 9th, 2010

In some VERY exciting news, the book cover for the brand new and highly anticipiate new Sophie Kinsella book Mini Shopaholic has been released! I have to say I am a little disappointed as it’s not overly colourful and I don’t think it’ll stand out too much on a bookshelf, but then again it could be worse! What do you think of it?

Becky Brandon (nee Bloomwood) thought motherhood would be a breeze – but it’s trickier than she thought. Two-year-old Minnie is a little tearaway who has created havoc everywhere from Harrods to Harvey Nicks to her own christening. She hires taxis at random, her favourite word is ‘Mine’, and she already has a penchant for Balenciaga bags. Becky is at her wits’ end.

On top of this, she and Luke are still living with her Mum and Dad, there’s a big financial crisis so everyone’s having to Cut Back – including all her personal shopping clients – and her husband Luke is feeling low after the death of his beloved stepmother. To cheer Luke up, Becky decides to throw him a surprise birthday party – on a budget – and that’s when things become really complicated. As Becky tries to keep the arrangements secret, misunderstandings and excuses sprout everywhere, and soon she’s told so many fibs she can’t keep track of them. Will Becky pull off the surprise? Will Minnie give everything away? Will Minnie’s godparents ever stop arguing? Who will end up on the naughty step and who will get a gold star? And what will happen when Becky discovers Luke is keeping a big secret too?”

Book Cover: The Truth About You by Melissa Hill

Posted By Chloe on March 22nd, 2010

Always eagerly awaited by me are the release of Melissa Hill’s novels because they are simply brilliant! Her next book, The Truth About You, is due out on May 27th, and the gorgeous cover was released exclusively in Melissa’s newsletter. In another bit of exciting Melissa news, we want to pass on our congratulations to Melissa and her husband who recently discovered they are expecting their first child next month! Here’s the synopss of The Truth About You:

“One morning in the small town of Lakeview, Ella Harris finds a cardboard box on the doorstop of her café. At first she thinks it’s her usual muffin delivery but is shocked to find that the box actually contains a newborn baby.

But what kind of mother would abandon a defenceless baby like that, and why?

Could it have been newly single Nina who, after being rejected by the father of her unborn child, has no choice but to return to Lakeview to stay with her estranged (and slightly peculiar) dad?

Or was it Lakeview-born Hollywood actress Eva Seymour, who on the eve of her triumphant return home from LA, has a completely ill-advised fling with a handsome co-star. A baby is certain to ruin her hard-fought-for career.

Or perhaps it’s happily married Jess who, as the only non-mum amongst her friends, finds herself increasingly left out. Terrified that she will lose them altogether, she embarks on becoming a mother too. But is she really rushing into something she really knows nothing about?”

Book News: Re-Design for Elizabeth Noble's books

Posted By Leah on February 3rd, 2010

Before Elizabeth Noble moved to Penguin, her books were published by Hodder. The covers weren’t too impressive - actually, I really didn’t like them - so since her move, Penguin have been busy making her old books look just as fantastic as her recent releases. The Reading Group and Alphabet Weekends are both due out on 25th February 2010 with their new covers and just how fantastic are they? I adore the cover for Alphabet Weekends.

Alphabet Weekends is about two friends who decide to dedicate their weekends to doing something from a letter of the alphabet in order from A-Z. The Reading Group is rather self-explanatory: five women join a reading group and end up talking about more than books!

Book Cover: You're The One That I Don't Want by Alexandra Potter

Posted By Chloe on January 30th, 2010

Thanks to the lovely Suzana at Bookalicious Ramblings, we now have the cover for Alexandra Potter’s new novel You’re The One That I Don’t Want, which is due out on 5th August. Alexandra posted it on her website, and I think it’s lovely, and it ties in with her older covers too. Here’s the synopsis again:

“What if you found your soulmate…
and then discovered you couldn’t lose him?

When Lucy meets Nate aged 18, it is love at first sight. As far as she’s concerned, he’s The One. Caught up in the whirlwind of first love, they kiss under the Bridge of Sighs in Venice at sunset and – according to the legend – are tied together indefinitely.

But ten years later, they’ve almost forgotten about each other. That is, until fate starts to bring them together. Again. And again. And again. It doesn’t seem as wonderful as it had before, but if Nate’s not The One – then why on earth is it proving so hard to break up with him?

A funny and magical romantic comedy about what happens when every girl’s dream of finding her dream man comes very true indeed…”

Book Cover: No Ordinary Love by Anita Notaro

Posted By Leah on January 29th, 2010

Anita Notaro’s last book was released in 2008 so there’s been quite a wait between books but she’s finally back on 1st April 2010 with her next release No Ordinary Love. I loved her first two books Behind The Scenes and Back After The Break so I’m absolutely looking forward to this book! I quite like the simple cover, too. Here’s the synopsis:

Louisa is fed up with every aspect of her life. Boyfriend, job, flat - all these need an instant and radical makeover. And so she decides to change it all in favour of a carefree existence, exchanging her house for a trailer, her car for a motorbike, and her smart clothes for leisure wear. And, most of all, she starts a new business, as a dog counsellor.

With her best friends Maddy and Clodagh she embarks on a new regime - to meet different people, discover new places and find a fabulous new man. Her business brings her immediate and extraordinary rewards, as she meets the owners of dogs whose problems often seem to echo those of their owners. But whatever the stresses of her new life, Louisa has the support of her two friends. If only that could last forever…

Book Cover: The Perfect Lie by Emily Barr

Since reading The Sisterhood by Emily Barr, I’ve become a huge fan of her books. Her next book The Perfect Lie is due out on 13th May 2010 and I absolutely cannot wait. The cover has finally been released and I adore it. The pink and the blue works perfectly and it’s such a fab cover. Here’s the synopsis:

For Lucy Riddick, Venice has always been the dream destination. A dream inspired by the pretty picture pinned to her mother’s kitchen wall. To Lucy, Venice seems the ideal place to lose herself. And now she needs to do just that. The secret she’s been keeping from her boyfriend and her friends has finally caught up with her and Lucy needs to disappear – and fast.

There’s no better time to pack her bags and head for Italy. But what if, when she sets foot in Venice, Lucy finds that the one thing she has been running from, the one thing she has been trying to escape, is already there, lying in wait for her? Time to run away again? Or time to end the chase, once and for all?
