Why we like/dislike it: Amy Silver’s new book cover is very busy. When I first saw it, I couldn’t for the life of me pick anything out because there’s just so much happening! But as you look at it more, it begins to come to life. London, the water, the boat, the fireworks. I love the colours used, the purples and blues and it’s definitely a cover that grows on me the more I look at it. I do feel the title colour and the font used isn’t particularly amazing - it doesn’t really pop but I think if it’s raised on the proper cover, it’ll look brilliant. Definitely a nice cover, and one I’d pick up, it would definitely catch my eye.

Why we like/dislike it: I actually really love this cover. There is something quite classy and unusual about it, and I think it suits the title of the book really. I don’t normally like covers with real people on them, but it just really works on this cover. I also like the colours used, especially in the title font as it really stands out from the other images on the book. I’d definitely pick this one up based on this cover, it’s different and I always like something that tries to be something other than ordinary!

Why we like/dislike it: This is a bit of a strange one. Whilst I like the use of a bright background colours, and the swirly font for the book title, there is just nothing special about this cover at all. It doesn’t really tell you anything about the book itself, it doesn’t have a specific author look to it, and it might be one that I simply glance past on a bookshelf as it wouldn’t stand out to me at all. It’s nice enough but it just seems a bit too generic for me unfortunately!

Why we like/dislike it:
The book cover for The Statistical Probability of Love At First Sight is one of my favourite book covers ever! As soon as I saw it, I fell in love. It’s so whimsical and so colourful and it would jump out at me immediately if I spied it in a book shop. I’ve had the pleasure to already read the novel (it’s stunning). Headline have done a wonderful job to give a stunning novel a stunning cover. This will seriously stand out on shelves and I cannot wait to see it in person myself, too.

Do Judge A Book By Its Cover: 4am In Las Vegas

Why we like/dislike it:
I love this book cover! I think Michelle Jackson has been really lucky with her cover designs for her travel themed books, they seem to really picture what the book is about, and this is one does just that. Using the bold colours, a typical Vegas-type sign and a darker background, it makes the book jump out at you and I think it encapsualtes Vegas perfectly. This cover alone is enough to make me want to buy the book!

Do Judge A Book By Its Cover: Drop Dead Gorgeous

Why we like/dislike it: The new cover for one of Katie Agnew’s earlier novels Drop Dead Gorgeous is, excuse the pun, drop dead gorgeous. Katie has some beautiful covers - go to Amazon and look if you don’t believe me! - and Drop Dead Gorgeous is one of the best. The pale blue background and dark blue dress contrast nicely with each other and the title is big enough without being too obvious. It’s not as flashy as Katie’s other two covers, but I like it a lot and would definitely notice it on the shelf!

Do Judge A Book By Its Cover: Not Quite A Fairy-Tale

Why we like/dislike it: Weirdly, I am really unsure about this cover. In one respect, I think it’s quite funny and with the inclusion of the frog certainly adds a comedy element, but in another way I don’t like it and think its looks a bit childish for my liking. I like the font used for the author’s name, and also for the book title, I think the colours work quite well too, green being an unusual colour in the chick lit genre, but might make it stand out a bit more. I think it’s going to be one of those marmite covers - you’re either going to love it or hate it!

Do Judge A Book By Its Cover: Pictures of You

Why we like/dislike it: The first word that comes to mind when I look at the cover for Pictures of You is atmospheric. I’ve already read and reviewed the novel, but if I hadn’t this cover would scream at me to pick it up because I would be wondering what exactly the girl holding the flowers meant. The purple colours and swirly fonts are so beautiful and I am blown away with the UK cover for Pictures of You. I’d certainly buy it.
