AW Book News: The Bird Sisters by Rebecca Rasmussen

Posted By Danielle on October 8th, 2011

One of my favorite reads this year has been The Bird Sisters by Rebecca Rasmussen. It’s rare that a book brings me to tears and connects with me on a level where I feel completely engrossed, but Rebecca’s debut novel did those very things for me. So when I heard it was coming out in paperback with a brand new cover on November 22nd I couldn’t help but be intrigued. And now, I’m torn. Take a look…

When I initially saw the hardback cover (on the left) I fell in love with it immediately and now I’m having a difficult time not wanting both covers. Yes, I’ve fallen in love all over again with the paperback cover (on the right) for one of my favorite books. Not only that, but my hardback copy is signed! So, I’m thinking I need to have both. That’s fair, right?

They’re both gorgeous in completely different ways. The hardback copy because of the gorgeous birds and in person it’s even more striking. With the paperback copy you can literally see Twiss running through the field with birds over head. How could I ever pick only one?!

You tell me, will you be picking up a copy of The Bird Sisters by Rebecca Rasmussen now that it will be released in paperback with a brand new cover? Do you have a preference of which cover you’d pick up?

Oh honey thank you so much for sharing this! I just saw the full spread of the paperback (front, back and spine) and though I will always love the hardcover because it came first, this one is really lovely too. The little girl is just so evocative of the story I think. Anyway, I just adore you and when I get a copy you’ll have to give me your address so I can send you a signed one! XOXOXO

O I love the new cover.

I like the original cover because it’s so different than most covers. There have been lots of covers with little girls running in fields.
