In an exclusive, Miranda Dickinson has filmed a video about the term “Chick Lit”. Everybody has an opinion on whether Chick Lit is derogatory or a perfectly acceptable way to describe authors who write romantic comedies so it’s nice to hear from an actual, proper author on the subject! Enjoy!
Humfrey Hunter, author of the soon to be released The Men Files (out on 14th April, in fact) has made a video for us, giving advice to four fictional heroines: Bridget Jones, Becky Bloomwood and the Haven Twins (from Getting Away With It by Julie Cohen). Here it is, it’s well worth the watch, I loved it!
So what actually goes on in a guy’s head?
Men can be more confusing than advanced algebra. Luckily, Humfrey Hunter is on hand to help you figure them out. This is a no-holds-barred look at how single men think, what they want and why they do what they do, from someone who was one.
Wondering why he didn’t call? Not sure what to do about Mr “I’m-Just-Not-Ready-For-A-Relationship”? Can’t decide between Mr Nice and a Bad Boy? Hoping a fling might become something more serious?
If you’re tired of mixed signals or utterly bemused by blokes’ behaviour, you’re not the only one. But Humfrey’s inside knowledge and direct dating advice will help you understand the manifold mysteries of the male mind, make the right moves at the right time, and weed out the good guys from the heart-breakers and head-wreckers.
I’m a huge fan of Miranda Dickinson, and have enjoyed both of the books she’s had published. I’m really looking forward to her next book It Started With A Kiss which is out in November and I was thrilled to learn that once a week Miranda will post up a new vlog (video blog) about It Started With A Kiss chronicalling how it all comes together, from first draft, through edits, to shelf and beyond!
Miranda has agreed I can post up the videos onto the site, so here are the first two installments, they’re brilliant and listen out for the site being name-checked in video two! If you have any questions for Miranda (which she’ll answer in the next video), put them in a comment below and I’ll send them over to her! Also, if you’d like to follow Miranda yourself, here is her blog: Coffee and Roses.
Book videos seem to be becoming more popular these days, and although I’m not a huge fan of book trailers, I do enjoy it when authors make a video and discuss their books. Wendy Holden has made a video, discussing her new book Gallery Girl (out on August 19th, which we’ll be reviewing soon) and she also reads an extract from the book! Enjoy!
OK, so this post doesn’t really need any kind of introduction because the title kind of speaks for itself. But an email came through on Friday afternoon where Sophie reads from Mini Shopaholic so I’ve decided to embed it here for you all. I’m so so excited for Mini Shopaholic and if the extract is anything to go by, it’s going to be another hilarious Becky Bloomwood adventure. Mini Shopaholic is out in September, just so you know! Enjoy!
If you’re a fan of Rebecca Farnworth, you may well want to check out this video of her talking about her new book ‘A Funny Thing About Love’ which is due out on August 5th. I loved Rebecca’s debut novel Valentine which I reviewed last year, and have been eagerly awaiting this one, especially after hearing Rebecca talk about it!
Paige Toon’s fourth book Pictures of Lily is out fairly soon (July 8th, get it pre-ordered!) and we thought we’d bring you a few videos featuring the lovely Paige. We will also be reviewing Pictures of Lily at the end of the month, as well as having a competition where you can win a bundle of all of Paige’s books and, finally, we’ll have an article from Paige discussing all of her books including her fifth book which is a sequel to Johnny Be Good (I am psyched for Johnny Be Good Part II). Enjoy!
