Cover Change - The Runaway Wife by Susy McPhee

Posted on Monday, July 27th, 2009 by Chloe

The cover for Susy McPhee’s second book The Runaway Wife has been changed since we last posted about it back in June. The new cover is much brighter and fun, although I think I still prefer the older one which matches the cover of her fantastic debut Husbands and Lies. Here’s the synopsis for The Runaway Wife, due out on 17th September:

“Marion Bishop’s life has fallen apart. Her daughter Hope was killed in a hit-and-run accident six months ago, and now Sam, her beloved husband, has walked out. Left alone with her grief, Marion has begun to contemplate the unthinkable. However, even her suicide plans go awry.

Firstly, she’s all out of pills, and then she’s mugged when she goes out to get more. In fact, it’s the mugging that wakes her up to the fact that she’s perhaps not quite so ready to die as she’d thought: an awkward realisation when you have a knife at your throat. When her mugger’s girlfriend intervenes in the attack, an unlikely friendship blossoms between the two women and Marion begins to contemplate a future. And what of Sam? He may have given up on their marriage but he hasn’t given up on Marion entirely.”

Book Cover: Lost Dogs and Lonely Hearts by Lucy Dillon

Posted on Thursday, July 23rd, 2009 by Chloe

The cover for Lucy Dillon’s second novel Lost Dogs and Lonely Hearts has finally been released, so here it is! I think it’s absolutely gorgeous, and looks like a perfect winter read to snuggle up with under the duvet! It’s not released until 26th November so we’ve got a bit of a wait, but as the old saying goes “Good things come to those who wait”! Here’s the synopsis in case you’ve missed it before:

“When the abandoned strays from a local dogs’ home are matched with brand new owners, it turns out it might not just be the dogs who need rescuing.

Rachel’s aunt has left her a house, a Border Collie and, despite knowing nothing about dogs, a crowded kennels. But since her life has collapsed she’s not sure she can deal with any more lost souls.

Zoe’s ex-husband has given their children a puppy. The kids are in love, but she’s the one stuck training Toffee the impossible Labrador. She’s nearly at the end of her tether – until Toffee leads her to a handsome doctor…

Meanwhile Natalie and Johnny’s marriage hasn’t been easy since they started trying for a baby. But is a fridge-raiding, sofa-stealing Basset hound like Bertie really the child substitute they’re looking for?

As the new owners’ paths cross on the town’s dog-walking circuits, their lives become interwoven. And they – and their dogs – learn some important lessons about loyalty, companionship and unconditional love . . .”

I loved Lucy’s debut The Ballroom Class so hopefully this one will be just as good, or even better! Look out for it from 26th November through Hodder publishers.

Book Covers: Penguin releases re-designed Marian Keyes Covers

Posted on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009 by Chloe

With the release of the cover of Marian Keyes’ latest novel ‘The Brightest Star in the Sky’, Penguin have also redesigned the covers for some of Marian’s older titles too. They all follow the same format of her newest book with her name and title in the middle of the book, and the covers are also very colourful.

I really like them, and think they are an improvement on the older more dated ones. Here’s the ones that have been released so far… what do you think?

Book News: A Wild Affair by Gemma Townley

Posted on Monday, July 13th, 2009 by Chloe

The sequel to Gemma Townley’s brilliant novel The Importance of Being Married (which I loved!) has a release date through its UK publishers Orion of 21st January 2010 and is called A Wild Affair. The gorgeous cover has also been released too, and it follows the cover theme of Gemma’s first novel and carries on the adventures of Jessica Wild. I’m really looking forward to the next installment in this story, and here’s the synopsis:

Jessica and Max are finally going to tie the knot, and Jessica is determined to have the biggest, best wedding ever. The only problem is, recently Max has been evasive - and when Jessica follows him and sees him in an apparent tryst with an attractive woman, it’s the last straw. The next thing she knows, she’s drunk at a bar, cosying up to the top rival of Max’s firm, and letting some top-secret work details slip… details that could cost Max everything. The next morning Jessica is deeply ashamed of her actions, and when a series of events leads her to discover an important truth about her past, she realises she shouldn’t have doubted the only man she’s ever loved. But as evidence of her own indiscretion surfaces, she knows that the same can’t be said about her. Is her Big Day, as well as her job and reputation in jeopardy?”

Released through Orion on 21st January 2010. Gemma’s next novel after this, The Ideal Marriage, has a release date of 11th January 2011 on Amazon, although there’s no synopsis up yet.

Book Cover and News: The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown

Posted on Tuesday, July 7th, 2009 by Chloe

It may not be chick-lit but I do love Dan Brown’s novels! His latest book, The Lost Symbol, is due out on 15th September and brings back the brilliant Robert Langdon from his other novels. The cover has been released by the publishers, Transworld, today and for the first time gives us a clue about the location of this book. The picture shows us the famous US Capitol building so this looks like it’s going to be set in the US. There’s no synopsis yet but here’s what I’ve been able to find out.

“Six years in the writing, The Lost Symbol is Dan Brown’s extraordinary sequel to his internationally bestselling Robert Langdon thrillers, Angels & Demons and The Da Vinci Code.

Nothing is ever what it first appears in a Dan Brown novel. Set over a breathtaking 12 hour time span, the book’s narrative takes the reader on an exhilarating journey through a masterful and unexpected landscape as Professor of Symbology, Robert Langdon, is once again called into action.

Expertly researched and written with breakneck pace, The Lost Symbol once again demonstrates why Dan Brown is the world’s bestselling thriller writer.”

I for one can’t wait for this book, not long to go! Look out for it from 15th September.

Book Cover: The Mistress by Martine McCutcheon

Posted on Wednesday, July 1st, 2009 by Chloe

Back in early May, we posted the news that singer and actress Martine McCutcheon is releasing her first book, The Mistress. The cover has finally been released, and I think it looks great. In case you missed it before, here’s the synopsis:

““Mandy is turning 30 and has a lot of love to give, but that special person has so far eluded her. Then, at her birthday party with close friends at the Wolseley, Cupid strikes from across a crowded room. It’s love at first sight, but Jake, the man she’s fallen for, is happily married. Mandy is determined to stick to her principles and not enter into such dangerous territory, but her resistance is to prove futile. But can she make it as a mistress? Can it work for someone to love two people? A romance with a twist, “The Mistress”, has an unusual, modern take on what women want.”

Martine’s book is due out on 6th November through PanMacmillan.

Book Cover: The Brightest Star in the Sky by Marian Keyes

Posted on Sunday, June 7th, 2009 by Chloe

I’m not sure yet whether it is the official cover, but the publishers Penguin have posted this as the cover for Marian Keyes’ latest novel The Brightest Star in the Sky which is due out October 29th this year.

If it is the one, it’s very pretty but quite dark compared to most of Marian’s other covers! I will keep an eye on Amazon in case they change it, but for now I thought I would post this to get you excited about the book.

For a synopsis of the book, see our earlier post here

Thanks to Suzana at Bookalicious for the heads up!

Book Cover: The Runaway Wife by Susy McPhee

Posted on Thursday, June 4th, 2009 by Chloe

The cover for Susy McPhee’s new book, The Runaway Wife, out on September 17th, is finally up at Amazon. If it’s as good as her debut book Husbands and Lies, then it’ll be a great read. Here’s the synopsis in case you missed it before:

Published by Ebury in September, it looks to be a great read.
