EXCLUSIVE COVER: Take A Chance On Me by Jill Mansell

Posted on Friday, October 2nd, 2009 by Chloe

Take_a_Chance_on_MeThanks to the fab Helena at Headline, we have an exclusive for you! It’s the jacket for Jill Mansell’s new book Take A Chance On Me which is due out in February 2010! I think it’s gorgeous, and I love the colours! What do you think? Here’s the synopsis again:

“Cleo Quinn doesn’t have the greatest track record when it comes to men, but now Will’s come along. Handsome and attentive, he could be her Mr Right. Things are definitely looking up for Cleo… apart from one small problem with a rather large ego. Johnny LaVenture, sculptor extraordinaire and her personal childhood nemesis, is back in Channing’s Hill and tormenting her as if he’d never been away. Meanwhile Cleo’s sister Abbie has a problem of her own – husband Tom has become distant and withdrawn, and she’s determined to find out why. But will the shocking truth mean the end of their idyllically happy marriage? The sisters are about to discover that the past can come back to haunt you, and that love can flourish in the unlikeliest of places…”

Exclusive Cover - A Summer Fling by Milly Johnson

Posted on Thursday, October 1st, 2009 by Chloe

Milly Johnson - A Summer FlingThe lovely Milly Johnson has sent us a copy of the new cover for her 4th book A SUMMER FLING which is due out in March 2010! I think it’s gorgeous and very summery looking! What do you think? Here’s the books synopsis:

“When dynamic, power-dressing Christie blows in like a warm wind to take over their department, five very different women find themselves thrown together at work. But none of them could have predicted the fierce bond of friendship that her leadership would inspire

…Anna, 39, is reeling from the loss of her fiance, who ran off with a much younger woman. Her pride in tatters, these days Anna finds it difficult to leave the house. So when a handsome, mysterious stranger takes an interest in her, she’s not sure whether she can learn to trust again? Then there’s Grace, in her fifties, trapped in a loveless marriage with a man she married because, unable to have children of her own, she fell in love with his motherless brood.

Grace worries that Dawn is about to make the same mistake: orphaned as a child, engaged to love-rat Calum, is Dawn more interested in the security that comes with his tight-knit, boisterous family? When a sexy, footloose rock singer catches her eye, will Dawn have the courage to follow her heart? At 28, Raychel is the youngest member of their little gang. And with a loving husband, Ben, and a cosy little nest for two, she would seem to be the happiest. But what dark secrets are lurking behind this perfect facade, that make sweet, pretty Raychel so guarded and unwilling to open up?

Under Christie’s warm hand, the girls soon realise they have some difficult choices to make. Indeed, none of them quite realised how much they needed the sense of fun, laughter, and loyalty that abounds when five women become friends. It’s one for all, and all for one!”

Cover vs. Cover - The Gift by Cecelia Ahern

Posted on Tuesday, September 29th, 2009 by Chloe

ceceliathegiftThe Gift Cecelia Ahern (pb)The paperback copy of Cecelia Ahern’s magical novel The Gift is due out this week, and with it comes a new cover. I absolutely love the hardback version with its silver foil stars over the front making it look very magical and pretty, but the bright red with the ribbon does look very festive which is apt as the book is set at Christmas time! Which is your favourite? Here’s the synopsis in case this book has passed you by:

“Lou Suffern is practised in the art of concealment. He is, also, always overstretched, trying to do too many things at once. His overburdened schedule gives him few moments of peace, even in his sleep. And when he spends time at home with his wife and family, he is always distracted, and, mentally, somewhere else. On a cold winter morning, Lou is on his way to work when he encounters Gabe, a homeless street dweller, sitting outside an office building. Lou is intrigued by him, and contrives to get him a job in the post room. But this act of charity rebounds on him, and Gabe’s presence begins to grate on Lou — particularly when he discovers that the latter seems capable of being in two places at the same time. Christmas is drawing near, and before the season is over, Lou’s life will be irrevocably change by the casual act of kindness he has performed.”

Book Cover: Housewife in Trouble by Alison Penton Harper

Posted on Saturday, September 12th, 2009 by Leah

alison penton harper housewife in troubleAlison Penton Harper’s fifth book in the ongoing Housewife series, Housewife in Trouble, will be released on 5th February 2010. It follows Housewife Down, Housewife Up, Housewife on Top and Housewife in Love. The synopsis reads:

Helen has done the one thing she swore she never would: remarry. A few weeks after the drive-thru’ ceremony, the reality of it comes over her like a python dropping out of a tree - that she would henceforth wake up every morning next to snoring rhinoceros Rick, a man with all the subtleties of a brick coming through your living room window.

Under the questionable tutelage of crazy Leoni, Helen vows to reinvent herself as a guilt-free, modern Superwife, and determines to master the innocent art of womanly deception. Meanwhile, big sister Julia, 43, suffers a major crash-and-burn after the miraculous arrival of her new baby. Desperate to help her navigate a severe case of post-natal depression, Helen suddenly finds herself knee-deep in subterfuge …

And that, possibly, is what distracts her when Helga, the Russian cleaning lady, attacks Rick with a chair …So there we have it. An Elvis wedding in Vegas. A panic-stricken newlywed wife. A severely concussed husband who cannot keep a secret. What could possibly go wrong? Bags open. Cats everywhere. As Elvis said, ‘If you’re looking for trouble, you’ve come to the right place‘

Book Cover: The Truth About Melody Browne by Lisa Jewell (paperback)

Posted on Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009 by Chloe

51DH7Odt-lL__SL500_AA240_I know Leah has already read and reviewed Lisa Jewell’s latest book The Truth About Melody Browne but I have always hated that cover, so I was really pleased when I saw the much nicer cover for the paperback edition on Amazon today! It’s much brighter and bolder, and looks far more like something I want to read! So what do you think - do you prefer the older hardback cover as seen on Leah’s review, or the new paperback edition?

Book Cover: The Secrets We Keep by Colette Caddle

Posted on Thursday, August 13th, 2009 by Chloe

thesecretswekeepLeah only posted the news of Colette Caddle’s new novel The Secrets We Keep yesterday, but I have found the book cover today on Colette’s website. It’s not due out until 29th April 2010 so there’s a bit of a wait but it sounds really good:

Four years ago Erin Joyce left Dublin under a cloud and bought a guesthouse in the remote, beautiful village of Dunbarra. The Gatehouse attracts a strange clutch of guests who, once ensconced, never want to leave. There’s Hazel, a shy artist, and her sweet, silent daughter Gracie. Sandra, a brash American, wants to know everything about everyone. Then there’s wise old easy-going PJ, who’s seemingly part of the furniture. But Erin’s fragile happiness is thrown off-balance by the arrival of A-list Hollywood actor Sebastian Grey.

Erin finds herself drawn to this handsome enigmatic man, who used to walk with a swagger but now prowls the country lanes with haunted eyes. What trauma could have brought about this devastating change? Sebastian isn’t the only one in the Gatehouse with a secret. Why is Hazel cast so adrift? Where does PJ go each week without fail, and what really brought Sandra to Dunbarra? As Erin finds herself embroiled in her guests’ secrets she starts to ask herself: will she be ready to reveal her own?

Book Cover: The Book of Tomorrow by Cecelia Ahern

Posted on Friday, July 31st, 2009 by Chloe

The Book of Tomorrow UKWell, it looks like we finally have a cover image for Cecelia Ahern’s new book The Book of Tomorrow! We posted the American cover a while ago, but the lovely Bookalicious have found the UK cover so here it is! I think it’s gorgeous and I can’t wait to read a copy of it! Which do you prefer, English or American cover? Here’s the synopsis again:

“Tamara Goodwin has always got everything she’s ever wanted. Born into a family of wealth, she grew up in a mansion with its own private beach, a wardrobe full of designer clothes, a large four poster bed complete with a luxurious bathroom en-suite. She’s always lived in the here and now, never giving a second thought to tomorrow. But then suddenly her dad is gone and life for Tamara and her mother changes forever. Left with a mountain of debt, they have no choice but to sell everything they own and move to the country to live with Tamara’s Uncle and Aunt. Nestled next to Kilsaney Castle, their gatehouse is a world away from Tamara’s childhood. With her mother shut away with grief, and her aunt busy tending to her, Tamara is lonely and bored and longs to return to Dublin. When a travelling library passes through Kilsaney Demesne, Tamara is intrigued. She needs a distraction. Her eyes rest on a mysterious large leather bound tome locked with a gold clasp and padlock. With some help, Tamara finally manages to open the book. What she discovers within the pages takes her breath away and shakes her world to its core. Told in Cecelia’s imitable style, The Girl of Tomorrow is a mesmerising and magical story for this autumn.”

    Thanks to Bookalicious!
