Book News: The Truth About You by Melissa Hill

Posted By Leah on November 23rd, 2009

Melissa Hill is beyond fabulous and is one of my favourite authors ever. Her twists are legendary and I look forward to her new releases and I wish she was capable of writing more than on book per year! Her next book, to be called The Truth About You which Melissa confirmed on her Twitter page, is due for release on 22nd July 2010 and sounds fantastic:

One morning in the small town of Lakeview, Ella Harris finds a cardboard box on the doorstop of her café. At first she thinks it’s her usual muffin delivery but is shocked to find that the box actually contains a newborn baby. But what kind of mother would abandon a defenceless baby like that, and why?

Could it have been newly single Nina who, after being rejected by the father of her unborn child, has no choice but to return to Lakeview to stay with her estranged (and slightly peculiar) dad?

Or was it Lakeview-born Hollywood actress Eva Seymour, who on the eve of her triumphant return home from LA, has a completely ill-advised fling with a handsome co-star. A baby is certain to ruin her hard-fought-for career.

Or perhaps it’s happily married Jess who, as the only non-mum amongst her friends, finds herself increasingly left out. Terrified that she will lose them altogether, she embarks on becoming a mother too. But is she really rushing into something she really knows nothing about?

martel maxwell scandalousMartel Maxwell, a showbiz expert who has appeared on GMTV, has her debut novel due out on 15th April 2010 titled Scandalous. I’m not a huge fan of the cover; I think the font blends too much into the cover itself - you can barely see the Scan in Scandalous - but I love the sound of the book:

Lucy, a beautiful, elegant fashion writer, has always been the sensible one, taking care of her little sister and never seeking the limelight. And when Hartley’s ex-girlfriend starts scheming to get her man back, Lucy realizes that she’s up against more than just the paparazzi… Meanwhile Max, tired of the non-stop partying that her job entails, has finally met the perfect man but when she finds out who he really is, she realizes that they can’t be together. Book News: The Nanny Returns by Nicola Kraus and Emma McLaughlin

Posted By Chloe on November 19th, 2009

the nanny returns emma mclaughlin and nicola krausThe Nanny Diaries was a really great read, and was turned into a hit movie starring Scarlett Johansson which I haven’t seen yet, but must get around to. Luckily, Nicola Kraus and Emma McLaughlin are bringing back the brilliant character of Nan for another book due out 1st April 2010 and it sounds fantastic. Here’s the synopsis:

Ten years after the fateful night when Nan was fired, she returns to New York with her husband, HH. Finally settling in to build a permanent home and get her consulting business off the ground, Nan’s plans are derailed by HH’s sudden desire to start a family - and her surpisingly strong resistance to the idea.

Matters are further complicated by a late-night, drunken visit from a now fifteen-year-old Grayer, who’s stumbled upon the nanny-cam tape Nan made on her last night in his mother’s employment - and wants some answers. Racked with guilt and struggling to find a way to help Grayer and his seven-year-old brother, Stilton, through their parents’ vicious divorce, Nan finds herself getting sucked into the Upper East Side world of wealth, power and dysfunction all over again.

Set against the backdrop of a Manhattan economy cracking along the fault lines, The Nanny Returns plumbs the humour and heartbreak of a community who chose money over love, only to find the money evaporate - and their children ready to tell all.

Author Interview: Jessica Ruston

Posted By Leah on November 18th, 2009

jessicarustonJessica Ruston’s debut novel Luxury is getting some rave reviews from the newspapers, magazines and Amazon.co.uk and if you haven’t bagged your copy yet then why on Earth not? It has a beautiful cover and sounds fantastic (see below). The lovely Jessica agreed to do an author interview with us and here are her answers!

1. Tell us about your debut novel Luxury?

Luxury is based around the rivalry between two luxury hotel tycoons who met at college - Logan Barnes and Nicolo Flores. They fell out - over a woman, as is so often the case - and have been at loggerheads ever since. It’s also a family drama in many ways - the Barnes family is falling apart at the seams somewhat. Logan’s wife, Maryanne, is a pill-popping socialite, his daughter is an ambitious it-girl - maybe too ambitious; his son is a laid back musician who is torn between following his heart and doing what his father wants him to. When the novel opens, Logan is about to open the biggest and most opulent hotel of his career - Luxury - on a magical private island. But Nicolo is out to bring him down… There’s plenty of scandal, intrigue, sex and designer shoes…
