Author of the Week: Chris Manby

chris manbyThis week’s Author of the Week is none other than the hilariously funny Chris Manby. I’m a huge fan of hers and can’t wait for her next book. Her biog doesn’t offer up much as it’s out of date but here it is anyway:

In 1995 Chris Manby met a New York psychic who told her she would write seven novels. She has just finished her eighth. Which means she probably won’t marry that millionaire, either! Raised in Gloucestershire, Chris now lives between London and Los Angeles. Her hobbies include reading in-flight magazines and she hopes that continually crossing time zones is an effective anti-aging strategy.

My favourite of Chris’s books is probably Spa Wars, I absolutely loved it and hope to get the chance to re-read it asap so I can review it. Her latest release was Crazy In Love which Chloe has reviewed. Chris’s next book will be called Getting Over Mr. Right and is due out on the 4th February 2010 and sounds like a great read:

After more than two years together, Ashleigh is just waiting for Michael to pop the question. She’s sure she’s met her Mr Right. But Michael has other things on his mind - namely, an interior designer from Brazil with big hair and an even bigger chest. Out of the blue, Ashleigh finds she’s dumped. Via Facebook. Ashleigh is not the sort of girl to take this news lying down. Instead, she embarks on a calamitous campaign to win Michael back. She’s staking everything she’s got. She may have lost her man, but has she also lost the plot?

Book News: Getting Over Mr. Right by Chris Manby

Posted By Chloe on June 28th, 2009

Chris Manby has got many books to her name, including under her pen-name of Olivia Darling, so we were pleased to see that she’s got another book out early next year. Getting Over Mr. Right is due out in February 2010 and sounds like another brilliant read. Here’s the synopsis from Amazon:

“Ashleigh has never had much luck with men. Days after the first date, while she is planning the wedding, they are planning their escape. So when she meets Michael, after swearing off men for life, and is still with him two and a half years later, she not unreasonably thinks she’s onto a winner.

Until she gets his Facebook update: ‘Michael is no longer in a relationship’. She tries to log onto his page - but he has Defriended her! Things get worse: in her inability to get over Michael, Ashleigh loses her best friend, her job and her flat, gaining only a letter from a lawyer warning her to stop stalking his client and a pink knitted voodoo doll called Mini-Michael . . .

It looks like a hilarious look into love and the new craze of social-networking, so look out for it early next year! We’ll post the cover when its becomes available.

Book News: Temptation by Olivia Darling

Posted By Chloe on June 9th, 2009

I have loved both of Olivia Darling’s previous books Vintage and Priceless. Therefore I was pleased to see she is back with her third book to be called Temptation. It’s due for release on 18th February 2010 so there’s a bit of a wait, but judging by her other work, it should be worth it. Here’s a short synopsis from Amazon:

“Eleanor is a high-flying hedge fund manager. Juliet, sacked from the same firm after an affair with her boss. Perseverance (aka Percy) is working as a cleaner to fund her ambition to become an opera singer. The paths of all three women collide in Olivia Darling’s sexy, glamorous new novel.”

Published through Sphere, the book is available for pre-order now. No book cover is available yet but we’ll post it when it is released!

Olivia Darling is a pseudonym of author Chris Manby.

chrismanbycrazyinloveBirdie Sederburg lives in LA, and is certainly enjoying her lifestyle. She’s the heiress to a global franchise of golf resorts owned by her grandfather Julian, and loves nothing more than spending her vast inheritance on hideous clothes and jewellery.
