Book Cover: Living La Vida Loca by Belinda Jones

Posted By Chloe on January 22nd, 2010

Here is the gorgeous new cover for Belinda’s next book Living La Vida Loca due out on 13th May 2010 and I think it’s fab! I can’t wait for the book now, and it looks like the perfect summer read! Here’s the synopsis in case you’ve missed it before:

“Carmen has been feeling the need to break free for Too Darn Long. So when her equally frustrated friend Beth suggests the ultimate escape – dancing their way through a series of scorchingly-hot countries – she can’t resist!

There’s just one catch… they can only go on this adventure if they participate in a reality TV show, one intent on teaching them the mournful tango in Argentina, the feisty flamenco in Spain and the sassy, celebratory salsa in Cuba!

As they travel from Buenos Aires to Seville and ultimately steamy Havana, each dance has a profound effect on the girls – and indeed the sexy gauchos, matadors and dirty dancers who partner them…

But, when the sun goes down, do they have what it takes to go beyond the steps and free their hearts for love?”

We posted a while ago about the news of Belinda Jones’ new book (and first with publishers Hodder) Living La Vida Loca. Well, it’s now up for pre-order on Amazon with a release date of 15th April 2010! There is also a full synopsis up as well so here it is:

“Carmen’s been trapped in an oppressive relationship for Too Darn Long. So when her equally rock-bottom friend Beth suggests the ultimate escape – dancing their way through a series of scorchingly-hot countries – she can’t resist!

There’s just one catch… they can only go on this adventure if they participate in a reality TV show, one intent on teaching them the mournful tango in Argentina, the feisty, foot-stomping flamenco in Spain and the sassy, celebratory salsa in Cuba!

As they travel from Buenos Aires to Seville and ultimately steamy Havana, each dance has a profound affect on the girls – and indeed the sexy gauchos, matadors and dirty dancers who partner them…

But, when the sun goes down, do they have what it takes to go beyond the uno-dos-tres of the steps and to free their hearts for love?”

I’ve read a few of Belinda’s books, my favourite being her last book Out of the Blue so I can’t wait for this! We’ll post the cover as and when it’s out there.

Book News: Belinda Jones Exclusive - LIVING LA VIDA LOCA!

Posted By Chloe on July 15th, 2009

Thanks to the lovely Isobel over at Hodder, we’ve had an exclusive about the fab Belinda Jones’ new book! It’s title is LIVING LA VIDA LOCA and here’s a synopsis to tickle your tastebuds!

“…It is the story of two friends who travel to three scorching hot Latino countries - Argentina, where they learn to tango; Spain, where they learn the flamenco; and finally Cuba, where they learn a seriously sizzling salsa… And with a bit of true love thrown in, and a brilliant best friendship, I think it’s just going to be the perfect summer read. As ever with Belinda, it’s a holiday for the price of a paperback!”

It sounds brilliant, but unfortunately we’ve got a long wait as it’s not due out until 2010! Keep an eye for the cover which we’ll post as soon it’s released, and its promised to be a fresh and funky new look for Belinda’s move to new publishers Hodder as well!

Book News: Authors in the News

* Hodder has signed chick-lit author Belinda Jones in a move away from her previous publisher, Random House, in a four-book deal for an undisclosed sum. The first book in the deal is currently untitled, but will be set in Argentina, Cuba and Spain and published in paperback in April 2010. The further three books will be published each subsequent year also in April, keeping Jones positioned for the summer slot. Hodder plans to update the look of Jones’ books in the same way that it has previously repackaged Melissa Hill and Alexandra Potter.

* HarperFiction’s publishing director Lynne Drew has signed Headline’s outgoing editorial director Harriet Evans in a three-book deal. The deal, for “a good six-figure sum”, was agreed with Jonathan Lloyd at Curtis Brown. Evans left Headline this week to work full-time on the novels. Her first, Going Home, was published in 2005. The first book in the deal, Evans’ fourth, is entitled I Remember You and will be published in hardback this November. It is set in Wiltshire and Rome, and described as “‘Room with a View’ meets ‘Roman Holiday’”.

* Orion has signed a further two novels by Emily Giffin in a “substantial” deal for an undisclosed sum. The first, entitled The Heart of the Matter, will be published in July 2010. The second as-yet-untitled novel has not yet been scheduled.

Author of the Week: Belinda Jones

Posted By Leah on April 9th, 2009

belindajonesThis weeks Author of the Week is Belinda Jones. Belinda is the author of 7 novels: Divas Las Vegas, I Love Capri, The California Club, The Paradise Room, Cafe Tropicana, The Love Academy and Out of the Blue. She is also the author of the non-fiction novel On The Road To Mr Right.

Belinda’s first job in journalism was on the Postman Pat comic. She went on to spend four years at “more!” magazine which included co-presenting the “Mr more! 94″ male model contest. After turning freelance she wrote for magazines including Elle, FHM, Cosmopolitan and For Women. In 1997 she moved to Los Angeles and in 2001 her first novel Divas Las Vegas was published to great success. She now lives in Las Vegas, but spends much of her time travelling to research her fabulous books (and to find men which you can read about in On The Road To Mr Right). My favourite Belinda Jones novel is Out of the Blue. My least favourite was The Love Academy and I didn’t even finish it, however I loved the cover for it. I haven’t read The Paradise Room or I Love Capri yet but I’ll be looking out for it. You can read my review for Out of the Blue here.

According to Belinda’s website she is currently working on/researching her eigth novel, apparently called Dancing Girls and is taking Cuban salsa lessons. Amazon.co.uk doesn’t have any information up yet but whenever it’s released I’ll be reading it.

Book Review: Out of the Blue by Belinda Jones

Posted By Leah on April 2nd, 2009

belindajonesoutoftheblueSelena Harper always thought she had the perfect job: working on a luxury cruiseship, she’s whisked around the world from Alaska to Zanzibar with excitement and adventure awaiting her in every port.

But as she prepares for her latest shore-leave - and finds herself unexpectedly deserted by her newly-engaged best friend - she begins to wonder if life on the ocean wave really is her dream come true. Why is she the only one who isn’t settling down? And how can she be feeling homesick when she has no home?

On a whim, she agrees to spend a week on the idyllic island of Crete, in the company of Alekos, a man she’s convinced is an incorrigible womaniser. Steeped in mythology, the island soon starts to work its magic on Selena - and, more worryingly, so does Alekos. Is he really the cad she’s always thought him to be? Or could it turn out that his home is where her heart is? Read my review underneath…
