Charlotte Sinclair is getting on with her life when fate throws her a curveball courtesy of a fortune teller she meets at a friend’s hen party. The psychic tells her “Love comes through hope alone”, and while Charlotte is pretty cynical, a tiny part of her hopes that it might be true. She’s forced to work every day with her ex-husband Richard and his new partner Suzie, but she won’t let on how much seeing him every day gets to her. The pair are sent on a work trip to Yorkshire (much to Suzie’s chagrin!) and there they meet 2 charities vying for the council’s art funding, and consequently Charlotte finds herself getting pretty close to both Heath and Paul. However, she’s sure no man out there is honest and manages to find a fault in both of them. But is Charlotte pushing away a potential love by being so cynical? Is love really so hard to get?

Katie Agnew’s next book, Saints V Sinners, is due out on 24th June and I’ve finally laid my hands on the cover. I absolutely adore the cover and I think it’s certainly going to stand out on the shelves. The blue is beyond gorgeous. Here is the synopsis for Saints V Sinners.
The LaFata family have it all - obscene wealth, talent, good fortune and beautiful genes. Or at least they used to…until the head of the family, Giancarlo ‘Fatty’ La Fata, vanishes over the side of his yacht one night and disappears into the dark Riviera night. His widow (and fourth wife) Jade, his son, Carlo Jr, and daughters, Francesca and Angelica, are left awash in a sea of heartbreak and confusion. Did Fatty fall, or was he pushed? But this question only leads to more - for around a strong man, are even stronger women. Mothers, daughters, lovers, wives and sisters - Fatty has left a web of women who all have their own secrets. When one of these women steps forward to clean up the mess Fatty left behind she will meet the drug dealers and illegal gamblers that lurk behind the glamour of the French Riviera, she will risk her heart as well as her life. Can she save the La Fata family from destruction? Or is it already too late?

Gemma Townley’s next book An Ideal Wife brings back Jessica Wild for a third time (after The Importance of Being Married and A Wild Affair). It’s not due out until 17th April 2011 but the cover has already been released. It matches nicely with the previous two titles and I know that Chloe loved both books so I should probably try and get my hands on these myself! Here’s the synopsis:
Married to the man she loves - sweet, sexy Max - Jessica Wild-Wainwright is blissfully happy…except for one tiny little problem. She never confessed to an (almost) tryst with Max’s biggest rival right before their wedding. Eaten up with guilt, and with looming threats of exposure, Jessica decides to give Max what he clearly still lacks: the Ideal Wife. With the help of her friends, she will become perfect in every way: doting, devoted, domestic-everything Max deserves. However, the path to perfection is fraught with peril, from culinary chaos to a boudoir disaster that puts Max in the hospital with a broken leg. As Jessica rallies to run Max’s company - met with overt hostility by an obsessive co-worker and by an auditor determined to uncover everyone’s secrets - things are decidedly less than ideal. Throw in a semi-retired Russian stripper and strange men watching her apartment, and Jessica fears Project Ideal Wife has backfired miserably. Can a less than perfect wife save the day?

Chick Lit Classics is a new feature on Chick Lit Reviews where we highlight the books we feel are classics of the chick lit genre. Feel free to discuss our choices in the comments section!
My choice this week is a title by a perhaps little known chick lit author called Valerine-Anne Baglietto. I first came across her books when my mum leant me a copy of her last book The Moon on a Stick and I adored it. However, it was this book, released in 2002, I spotted in the charity shop and snapped up despite it’s quite out-dated looking cover, and I am glad I was able to look past that. The story is lovely, a story about a single mum trying to find the man who can make her and her daughter happy again, and I loved it. It was really easy to read, characters that I loved and I really enjoy Valerie Anne’s writing style. If you get a chance, do pick up one of her books to read because they are lovely stories, and it’s a shame she hasn’t released anything since 2005.
“She wouldn’t trade her precocious daughter Emmi for a million pounds, but as a single mum, holding down a job and paying the bills is hard work. If only her glamorous, fun-loving nanny Paloma were better at housework - if only she had a few more hours in the day. When her boss Dick Anthony - tall, lithe, lean and loaded - starts showing an interest in her, Kate’s tempted to reciprocate. But then she meets reckless jack-of-all-trades Tom Llewellyn, who attracts her despite her best intentions. So when Emmi’s father Harry Barrett comes back into her life - a changed man - Kate’s more than just a little bit confused. Is love finally in the air, or is she going to make the same mistake again? The one that made her a single mother in the first place…”

Jennifer Weiner is back on 5th August 2010 with her latest book Fly Away Home. I recently read my first Weiner book in Best Friends Forever and I have to admit, I wasn’t a huge fan. However I love the sound of her new one so it may well be one I look out for. Here’s the synopsis:
Sylvie Woodruff has spent the last 30 or so years being the ideal politician’s wife and raising two daughters. When her world crashes down around her after a painful, public betrayal, she retreats to her grandmother’s rambling seaside home to wait for the scandal to blow over. Sylvie’s eldest daughter, Kate, married out of friendship and respect, not love…then years later, finds herself falling for a most unsuitable man. When the affair ends badly, she sets off in search of a new beginning. Lizzie, Kate’s younger sister, who caused her parents such heartache as a teenager, is finally getting her life together. When a summer fling leaves her pregnant, and her charming boyfriend turns violent, she too heads out of town.

Those who receive Mike Gayle’s newsletter will be aware of the fact that his 11th book is going to be a sequel to his fab novel Turning Thirty. In his latest edition of his newsletter, Mike has revealed that the book will (probably) be called Turning Forty and that he has “enjoyed being back with Ginny, Matt and co. ten years after their first appearance”. There’s no release date yet but I would hazard a guess it’ll be out in 2011! You can sign up to Mike’s newsletter at his website: http://www.mikegayle.co.uk/
For all of Mike’s fans, his latest book The Importance of Being A Bachelor was released this week so go snap it up! I certainly will be buying it soon, as I love Mike’s books!
