Today’s choice is going to be the movie of that famous TV series, Sex and the City. I wasn’t a huge fan of the TV series until just before the movie came out as I was too young to watch it when it was originally aired, but I then got the boxset and watched the whole lot in quick succession and loved it. When the movie came out 2 years ago now, I went to see it in the cinema for my birthday and loved it, and also bought the DVD when it released!

It’s utter fun for the few hours it’s on, and is definitely a great addition to the SATC franchise. They do have a second movie coming out later this year, and I’m not sure if that’s a good idea or not because I felt the original movie was the perfect end to the whole thing but there you go! If you enjoyed the show then you’ll enjoy the movie so go and watch it if you haven’t already!

“Carrie and Mr. Big (Chris Noth) are happy as they search for an apartment, Charlotte (Kristin Davis) is blissful with her husband (Evan Handler) and adopted daughter, Samantha (Kim Cattrall) is still with actor Smith Jerrod (Jason Lewis), and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) is trying to balance life as a mother, wife, and lawyer as she lives in Brooklyn with Steve (David Eigenberg). But Carrie and Big’s apartment hunt leads them down the road to marriage, and the destination may not be quite everything Carrie hoped for.”

This week’s pick is the rather fab 27 Dresses which was released in 2008 and stars Katherine Heigl and James Marsden. I watched this about six months ago and I fell in love with it. I thought it was sweet, and funny and had an rather interesting plot. My favourite scene of the entire movie was when Katherine’s character Jane tries on all 27 of her bridesmaid dresses, it was a fantastic scene with some good, bad AND ugly dresses! It’s a definite much watch for chick flick lovers.

Jane is career-oriented and secretly in love with her employer, George. She spends much of her time as a bridesmaid, and has 27 dresses as evidence. Then her structured and ordered life comes unhinged when her younger sister, Tess, re-enters her life, and a reporter, Kevin, is attracted to her. Kevin decides to publish Jane’s secret and her overwhelming wardrobe. Things get even more complicated when Jane finds out she may end up losing George to none other than her very own sister.

This week’s pick is the rather fantastic The Proposal. I watched it a few months ago and I fell completely in love with the film. I am a huge fan of Sandra Bullock (Miss Congeniality will be appearing soon on here, I’m sure) and I think she’s a completely outstanding actress. She really excels in romantic comedies and The Proposal is no different. I thought Ryan Reynolds was also fantastic opposite Sandra and I was really impressed with his performance. But, for me, the performance of the film was Betty White who played Andrew’s (Ryan Reynolds) Grandma, she really made me laugh!

For three years, Andrew Paxton has slaved as the assistant to Margaret Tate, hard-driving editor at a New York publisher. When Margaret, a Canadian, faces deportation for an expired visa, she hatches a scheme to marry Andrew - he agrees if she’ll promise a promotion. A skeptical INS agent vows to test the couple about each other the next Monday. Andrew had plans to fly home that weekend for his grandma’s 90th, so Margaret goes with him - to Sitka, Alaska - where mom, dad, and grams await. Family dynamics take over: tensions between dad and Andrew, an ex-girlfriend, Andrew’s dislike of Margaret, and her past color the next few days, with the INS ready to charge Andrew with fraud.

It’s ‘Chick Flick Tuesday’ again, and this week I’ve chosen the fab 13 Going On 30! I love this film because of it’s light-hearted story which turns into a great romance, the lovely Jennifer Garner in the lead role who is always fun to watch, and the fabulous soundtrack too. It’s a really fun watch, and one I don’t mind watching again and again which is good as it always seems to be on the telly! Have you seen 13 Going On 30? If so, did you like it?!

“Jenna, a frustrated teenage girl, just wants to skip past all those annoying adolescent years and arrive at a glamorous adulthood-and thanks to some inexplicable wishing dust, she does. But once she re-orients herself to a life as a high-end magazine editor with a sports-star boyfriend, she discovers that in the 17 years she skipped she became a not-so-nice person, including casting aside her best friend Matt.”

Chick Flick Tuesday #1: How to Lose A Guy In 10 Days

How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days is, quite possibly, one of the best Chick Flicks ever made and is the perfect choice for our first ever Chick Flick Tuesday pick. I’ve seen the movie multiple times and I still find myself laughing out loud in parts. I also think Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey have the best chemistry I’ve seen in a movie.

Benjamin Barry is an advertising executive competing with two female co-workers for a major campaign for a diamond merchant. He cuts a deal with his competitors that the account is his if he can make a woman of their choice fall in love with him in 10 days. In comes Andie Anderson who, in turn, is writing a story on how to lose a guy in 10 days as a bet with her boss to be allowed to write more substantial stories. With a hidden agenda in each camp, will either party be able to complete their mission?
