Book News: Instructions for Bringing Up Scarlett by Annie Sanders
The writing duo that is Annie Sanders are back this summer with their new book, Instructions for Bring Up Scarlett. The book is due out on 9th June 2011, and they have had a massive cover change from their previous books, and I have to say I’m not too sure I prefer this look, I did like their cartoon-style covers! Do you like the new cover? Here’s the synopsis:
“Alice McLean is living the life she always dreamed of: no ties, no constraints and no worries. As an only child, with her parents long gone, she’s financially independent and has an undemanding job as a travel writer, working from her picturesque cottage in Gloucestershire. Her life is one of carefree adventure, full of spa days, dinner parties and glamorous foreign travel. But Alice’s charmed existence comes to an abrupt end when she receives some devastating news - her best friend Virginia and her husband have been killed in a car crash. Then the solicitor informs her that she is now the legal guardian of their daughter, Scarlett. Suddenly, Alice’s uncomplicated life is thrown into turmoil. Now she must come to terms not only with the loss of her oldest friend, but with the new-found responsibilities of being a single parent. So begins a journey that will force Alice to reassess her dreams, as she realises that sometimes the greatest adventures are the ones you never thought you’d take…”

Though, to be fair, the subject matter looks a lot darker than the other books, so it may be the reason for a complete change of look… C : ) xx

Well, I have to say I LOVE this cover. Absolutely beautiful, and it would definitely draw me to the book. Wonder if it’s because I have a daughter with long hair…?

Wow. I have to say I like the cover. Yes it’s different than the previous ones, but like Carole said, the matter is much darker than the previous books, so maybe it’s warranted. Besides, I would never let a cover stop me from buying a book from an author I loved!
