Author Event: Grab a chance to talk to Adele Parks on Skype!

Posted By Chloe on April 4th, 2011

To coincide with the paperback release of her latest novel Men I’ve Loved Before, Adele and her publishers at Headline have organised a fantastic prize for 5 lucky readers! Here’s an official blurb to tell you a bit more about it, it sounds like a great opportunity to talk to Adele and ask her all your burning questions!

“Using the wonders of technology, we’re offering five of you – plus your friends - the chance to chat to Adele in a venue of your choosing, via skype - all you’ll need is a computer and internet access, and saying hello face to face is just a touch of a button away…

You might have a book group who’ve read or are going to read MEN I’VE LOVED BEFORE; maybe you’re a member of a library who you think would like to host the skype event; you might have a regular coffee morning, or gather with other mums and readers at an after school club, or maybe you work with people who love to read too. Who and where is up to you - if you’d be interested in getting a group together – large or small – to chat to Adele and tell her about your experience of her books, we’d love to hear from you.

We’ll be running events with the selected five groups on the week of 2nd May, and are flexible to find times that suit you and your group. Places are limited so apply soon – all you have to do is send an email to me [email protected], explaining in a few lines who you and your group are, and why and where you’d like to chat – deadline is Thursday 21st April…”

The LA Times Festival of Books is an annual book festival that happens each April in Los Angeles. Up until this year it’s been held at UCLA, but beginning this year they’ve switched the venue to USC campus. I was able to attend last year and had an incredible time! Author Event Featuring Harriet Evans!

Posted By Leah on November 2nd, 2010

We received an email last week telling us about an author event happening at Richmond Upon Thames Literature Festival, here are the details!:

London Library Reading 1
Harriet Evans & Daisy Goodwin
The Curse of the Pink Cover: Women Writers and the ‘Chick Lit’ Debate
Wednesday 3 November, 7.30pm RACC Studio
£8 (£7)

Why are books reflecting women’s lives so often trivialised? Why do female readers buy books marketed to a male audience, but male readers steer away from so-called ‘chick lit’? Harriet Evans has seen these issues from both sides of the fence: working in the publishing industry as an editor, and now as an established novelist herself. Daisy Godwin has written a novel and a memoir, produced numerous poetry anthologies, presented a documentary series on romance fiction and acted as Chair of the Orange Prize. Together, Harriet and Daisy discuss the publication and reception of ‘women’s writing’.

In association with The London Library

RACC Studio & Queen Charlotte Hall
Parkshot
Richmond
