Book News: Miracle on Regent Street by Ali Harris
We brought you news of Ali Harris’s debut novel a little while ago, but now we have a cover to accompany it. Miracle on Regent Street is due out on 13th October 2011 - a little over a month away! - and it’s one both Chloe and I can’t wait to read. It sounds brilliant and I love that the cover isn’t your typical Christmas affair. The blue will really pop on the shelves. Here’s the synopsis:

I’m a bit bemused by this blurb. It does nothing to sell this book to me. ‘Dreams can come true. it could happen to you’ it says. What dreams? What could happen? Is my dream (or anyones dream) to turn a shop around? Who grows up thinking ‘someday I will turn a failing shop into a success’ I can’t imagine anything more dreary. I have never liked what I call the ‘How to’ sub-genre in chicklit - how to set up your own shop, cafe, auction, whatever - with a little romance icing to sell it and in this blurb there isn’t even a mention of romance, it just sounds like a fictionalised episode of Mary Queen of Shops.
Like I say, I’m bewildered as to what exactly is meant to be selling this book to me.

I think the cover is nice and the blurb is mysterious and enticing! I look forward to reading it!

Hmm trish,no synopsis will give you a detailed account of exactly what is going to happen in a book..its a good synopsis following the same path as every other synopsis and it sounds great…i didnt pick up on
