Book News: Baby Be Mine by Paige Toon
We posted a while back about Paige Toon’s new novel, but we can now officially confirm that it will indeed be called Baby Be Mine (rather than Be My Baby). It’s due out on 21st July 2011 (why so far away? I want to read it now!) and the cover has finally been revealed by Simon & Schuster UK on Twitter! I must admit, I feel a bit anti-climatic. The cover is nice, but that’s just it, it’s nice. It doesn’t hold a candle, unfortunately, to Paige’s previous covers. It lacks the sparkle factor. Either way, though, I cannot wait for this book - it’s been a long time coming! Here’s the synopsis:
‘He’s not mine, is he?’ That’s the question I fear the most. You see, I have a secret. My son is not fathered by my boyfriend, but by one of the most famous people that ever lived. And he doesn’t even know it. One-time celebrity personal assistant to wild boy of rock Johnny Jefferson, Meg Stiles is now settled and living in the south of France with her doting boyfriend Christian and their son Phoenix. But they’re living a lie - a lie that will turn their lives upside down and inside out - because Meg’s son doesn’t look like Christian, he looks like his rock star father, and sooner or later, the world is going to realise...

I like the cover, and if it was her first book it would make me pick it up, but I miss the old cover style. I liked the little silhouette people on the nicely coloured backgrounds!

I like the cover, but I loved her previous ones and would have liked this one to match them, especially as it’s the follow up to Johnny Be Good. I’m still going to buy it, though.

I bought this book in April. At this point, forget the cover, I just want to read the book!

Chanpreet - I assume you mean you pre-ordered it in April!!

I pre-ordered this ages ago, cannot wait to receive it as I love her books! I do love this cover but there was nothing wrong with the previous style xx

Personally, I think it’s a MASSIVE downgrade. Author name text is too plain, too much blue going on and the drawing of the woman (her face?!?!) is just awful.
I only bought the previous Paige Toon books because the covers were SO PRETTY (seriously BEST COVERS EVER), but I won’t be buying this one, sorry to say. I was soooooooo excited to see this cover, but I feel horribly disappointed. Wish I knew why they decided to change designers …

I agree with Bookalicious here.. too bland and blah compared to her beautiful previous covers which is such a shame. I don’t know why they felt they had to change a design which was so well loved. Ah well.
