AW Book News: Lost Dogs and Lonely Hearts by Lucy Dillon

Posted By Danielle on February 20th, 2011

It’s no secret, Lucy Dillon is big news in the UK and here at Chick Lit Reviews she’s received numerous positive reviews. On March 1st she’ll be publishing for the first time with Berkley, an Imprint of Penguin USA, with her very popular novel Lost Dogs and Lonely Hearts. Chloe reviewed it back when it was released in 2009 in the UK and I’m extremely eager to see if I take to it as well as she did. It sounds fantastic! Though I do have to say I’m more of a fan of the UK cover than the new US cover, although I do love the doggies! So, adorable! What do you think, US readers, are you excited for this new release?

An irresistible novel about women, men, and the dogs that own them.

Thirty-nine year old Rachel is having a really bad year. After losing her job and breaking up with her boyfriend, Rachel has inherited her late aunt’s house, her beloved border collie, and a crowded rescue kennel, despite the fact that she knows almost nothing about dogs. Still, considering her limited options, she gamely takes up the challenge of running the kennel. And as Rachel starts finding new homes for the abandoned strays, it turns out that it might not just be the dogs that need rescuing.

I LOVE this cover. Seriously. It is the cutest thing I think I’ve ever seen. I will always fall for a cover with dogs on, but this is a genuinely nice cover. I would totally and utterly pick this book up.

And as an aside, my Westie quite literally lies like that, under quilts and blankets!

I’m seriously jealous! I want a dog so badly. Especially a Great Dane like on this cover. So adorable.

It is a nice cover (the dogs are adorable!), but I also prefer the UK one. I love the wintery scene on the front of it. It seems a lot more appropriate to the story and would make me more likely to pick it up.
