Chick Flick Tuesday: Sleepless in Seattle

Chick Flick Tuesday highlights the best chick flicks in the movie world as well as bringing you news on upcoming chick flick releases as well as letting you all know about which chick lit books are being made into chick flick movies!

This week I chose Sleepless in Seattle, starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, as our Chick Flick Tuesday. It’s one of those movies that even when I see the poster image I’m immediately swept back into the movie. A young boy struggling to help his father move past his own mother’s death by doing what only a 9/10 year old boy could do, calls a talk radio show looking for a new mom. Through a random series of events his dad, played by Tom Hanks, and Annie, played by Meg Ryan, end up on top of the empire state building in New York City. With references to one of the greatest films ever, An Affair to Remember, and including a hit song by Celine Dion, “When I Fall In Love”, this is a Chick Flick not to miss!

“When Sam’s (Tom Hanks) son, Jonah (Ross Malinger), calls into a talk radio program looking for a new mother, Sam ends up getting on the phone and laments about his lost love. Thousands of miles away, Annie (Meg Ryan) hears the program and immediately falls in love with Sam, despite the fact that she has never met him and that she is engaged to humdrum Walter (Bill Pullman). Believing they are meant to be together, Annie sets out for Seattle to meet Sam, who, meanwhile, contends with an onslaught of letters from available women equally touched by his phone call.”
