Chick Flick Tuesday: Romeo and Juliet
Chick Flick Tuesday highlights the best chick flicks in the movie world as well as bringing you news on upcoming chick flick releases as well as letting you all know about which chick lit books are being made into chick flick movies!
It was Valentine’s Day yesterday, and I tried to pick a film today that fits in with the theme of love, and what better than one of the most well known and wonderful love stories of all time - Romeo and Juliet?! Of course, there have been many film versions of this film made over the years, but my favourite has to be this 1997 remake by Baz Luhrmann featuring Leonardo DiCaprio (*swoon*) and Claire Danes as the star-crossed lovers. It’s a modern interpretation with the Shakespearian language throughout, and I’ve seen it countless times and never get bored. It’s a fantastic love story, and who doesn’t Leo as Romeo?!
“Baz Luhrmann’s dazzling and unconventional adaptation of William Shakespeare’s classic love story is spellbinding. Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes portray Romeo and Juliet, the youthful star-crossed lovers of the past. But the setting has been moved from its Elizabethan origins to the futuristic urban backdrop of Verona beach.
This brilliant and contemporary retelling of the world’s most tragic love affair makes this wildly inventive Romeo & Juliet unforgettable.”
