Book News: You're The One That I Don't Want by Alexandra Potter

Posted on Saturday, October 24th, 2009 by Chloe

Fans of Alexandra Potter will be pleased to see that her new novel is now available on Amazon for pre-order! You’re The One That I Don’t Want is due out on 8th July 2010, and is Alexandra’s 8th book. Here’s the synopsis:

“What if you found your soulmate…
and then discovered you couldn’t lose him?

When Lucy meets Nate aged 18, it is love at first sight. As far as she’s concerned, he’s The One. Caught up in the whirlwind of first love, they kiss under the Bridge of Sighs in Venice at sunset and – according to the legend – are tied together indefinitely.

But ten years later, they’ve almost forgotten about each other. That is, until fate starts to bring them together. Again. And again. And again. It doesn’t seem as wonderful as it had before, but if Nate’s not The One – then why on earth is it proving so hard to break up with him?

A funny and magical romantic comedy about what happens when every girl’s dream of finding her dream man comes very true indeed…”

Book News: Players by Karen Swan

Posted on Friday, October 23rd, 2009 by Leah

karen swan playersKaren Swan‘s debut novel Players is due out on 15th January 2010 and sounds perfect for Bagshawe fans. I quite like the cover myself, I love the font used for ‘players’. Players sounds like an interesting read:

Harry Hunter was everywhere you looked - bearing down from bus billboards, beaming out from the society pages, falling out of nightclubs in the gossip columns, and flirting up a storm on the telly chat show circuit. Harry Hunter is the new golden boy of the literary world. With his books selling by the millions, the paparazzi on his tail, and a supermodel on each arm, he seems to have the world at his feet.

Women all over the world adore him but few suspect that his angelic looks hide a darker side, a side that conceals a lifetime of lies and deceit. Tor, Cress and Kate have been best friends for as long as they can remember. Through all the challenges of marriage, raising children and maintaining their high-flying careers, they have stuck together as a powerful and loyal force to be reckoned with - living proof that twenty-first-century women can have it all, and do.

It is only when the captivating Harry comes into their lives that things begin to get complicated, as Tor, Cress and Kate are drawn into Harry’s dangerous games.

Book Review: The Baby Group by Rowan Coleman

Posted on Friday, October 23rd, 2009 by Chloe

rowan coleman the baby groupThe main jist of the story is that we are introduced to the main character who is Natalie, a young successful business woman who falls pregnant after a fling with a handsome man. She keeps the baby and decides to raise him on her own, while her mother still thinks she is travelling in China!

Natalie is embarrassed about being a single parent, so takes it upon herself to invent a husband who works in Italy, but the story gets harder and harder to keep up…. with hilarious results!

She doesn’t have any friends with children, and she realises that she needs to get out with her newborn son more but doesn’t know where to start, much like most new mums.

Book News: One Day In May by Catherine Alliott

Posted on Thursday, October 22nd, 2009 by Leah

catherine alliott one day in mayThe fantastic Catherine Alliott returns in 2010 with her next book One Day In May. It’s due for release on 4th March 2010 and sounds fantastic, as always. I also love the cover and can’t wait to read it; I’m so glad Catherine is back with regular releases:

Single mother Hattie has plenty of reasons to be happy with her life. Her antiques business is flourishing, her teenage son is settled at boarding school and she’s enjoying a fling with a younger, very sexy man. But all that changes one fine day in May when Hattie’s job takes her back to the idyllic village of Lower Hamble and painful memories of her first love - Dominic Forbes, the married politician she worked for many years ago, the man who changed the course of her life – come flooding back…

Things come to a head when Hattie bumps into Dominic’s widow and his gorgeous older brother, Hal, in the village and she finds her world turned upside down. Will Hattie come clean about what really happened with Dominic all those years ago? And, if she does, is she ready to face the consequences? Whatever happens, Hattie comes to realize that you can’t keep running from your mistakes. It’s time to move on and maybe, just maybe, let herself fall in love again…

Author of the Week: Jane Costello

Posted on Thursday, October 22nd, 2009 by Leah

janecostelloThis week’s Author of the Week is the fabulous Jane Costello. I recently read (and reviewed) Jane’s second novel The Nearly-Weds and I absolutely loved it. Jane’s writing style is easy to get into and her heroines are very likeable and down-to-earth. Jane’s biography from her site reads:

Jane Costello is a former journalist for newspapers including the Daily Mail and Liverpool Echo. Until 2007 she was the Editor of the Liverpool Daily Post, a job she’d held for four years. She lives in Lancashire with her husband and two young sons. Jane’s books, Bridesmaids and The Nearly-Weds, have been translated into numerous languages.

As I said, Jane’s easy writing style makes her a must-read for me. I look forward to getting her first novel Bridesmaids as it sounds fab. Jane’s third book, My Single Friend, is due for release on 15th April 2010 and also sound fantastic. I wholly recommend The Nearly-Weds particularly if you like Paige Toon, the style of writing and loveable heroines are very similar! Jane’s book covers are also fab, no? I love the text.
