    CLR.com Awards 2009: The Categories

    September 22nd, 2009 by Leah

booksA few months ago we mentioned the inaugural Chick Lit Reviews’ Awards 2009. (Inspired name, huh?) Here are all of the categories we’ll be honouring. Look out for the full list of nominee’s sometime in late November/early December. In the mean time we’ll be presenting some of those that may make the shortlist. Since Chloe and I have read different books this year, I was wondering if maybe we should do separate nominee’s and winners. What do you guys think?

Best & Worst Book of the Year - Best & Worst Sequel of the Year - Book With Most LOL Moments - Tear-Jerker of the Year- The Inaugural “stick to the day-job -you’re rubbish at writing” Award (sponsored by Penny Smith)* - Best Debut Novel 2009 - Most Anticipated Book of the Year: Good and Bad - Book That Blew Our Socks Off (We Didn’t Expect To Love It But We Did) - Book Cover of the Year - Best Lead Character - Sexiest Male Character - Favourite Author of 2009

*We mean no offense to Penny Smith but she should have stuck to her day job.

      Woo, exciting news!
Personally, I think I’d prefer one list of winners and nominees, it would be less confusing methinks. :)
Looking forward to the longlist and the shortlist! Will we readers get to vote or will the winners be chosen by you?

Yeah, it does make sense doing just one list. Trouble is, one book I may love Chloe might not have read!

Also, we may do a readers vote for a category as long as readers want to vote!! xx

you really should consider moan about men by Juliana Foster for your book cover award - its really pretty!!

Even if one of you hasn’t read the book, your reviews are still detailed and justified enough for the other person to decide whether or not they’d like the book. Or each can contribute an equal number of nominees and then the readers decide or smth. Up to you of course, but I’m looking forward to this!

Zoe - Checked out the cover and sorry, can’t really say it’s one of the most beautiful ones I’ve ever seen. ;)

They sound fab, looking forward to seeing what makes the cut :-)
Hope I’m not in the Penny Smith category next year!

This sounds like a good idea, but some of the ‘awards’ are a little bit unprofessional, such as The Inaugural “stick to the day-job love you’re crap at writing” Award (sponsored by Penny Smith). It takes a lot to write a book and even if you didn’t like the book it’s one thing giving it a bad review but another to single them out like this, it’s a bit person maybe? Other than that I think it will be a bit of fun, not to be taken too seriously.
