Book News: I'm So Happy For You by Lucinda Rosenfeld

lucindarosenfieldsohappyforyouLucinda Rosenfeld, author of What She Saw and Why She Went Home, has her third novel out on July 29th titled I’m So Happy For You. I love the cover and it sounds like a good read:

What if your best friend, whom you’ve always counted on to flounder in life and love (making your own modest accomplishments look not so bad), suddenly starts to surpass you in every way?

Wendy’s best friend, Daphne, has always been dependably prone to catastrophe. And Wendy has always been there to help. If Daphne veers from suicidal to madly in love, Wendy offers encouragement. But when Daphne is suddenly engaged, pregnant, and decorating a fabulous town house in no time at all, Wendy is…not so happy for her. Caught between wanting to be the best friend she prides herself on being and crippling jealousy of flighty Daphne, Wendy takes things to the extreme, waging a full-scale attack on her best friend-all the while wearing her best, I’m-so-happy-for-you smile-and ends up in way over her head.

That’s funny - I was just looking at the cover the other day and thinking this is one of the worst covers I’ve ever seen, lol. Can’t win ‘em all. ;)

Can’t say I am too keen on the cover either! Looks quite American actually… I find their covers are nowhere as good as British ones (Harry Potter books, Sophie Kinsella etc) x

They aren’t usually, are they? How were the HP books changed in America? I’m going to have a see, I can’t wait for HP6 film!!!!

Here are the first 5 HP US covers: http://www.openflame.com/harrypotter/book_covers.shtml

And Chloe, agreed!!! I too find British covers much nicer than the US ones in 99,9 % of the cases and if I have a choice, I go for the UK version. :)

As for this I’m So Happy for You cover, I truly find it horrendous - straaaaange orange dress with bits of white text?!?! Personally, I wouldn’t even pick this book up if I saw it in a bookshop, but that’s just me. :)

The American HP covers look so cheap and tacky… they really should have just used our ones! This isn’t a book I would pick up either - I know you shouldn’t judge a book by the cover but I can’t help it!
