‘Not Exactly Chick Lit But…’ is a new feature on Chick Lit Reviews highlighting some books that are not exactly Chick Lit (hence the title) but that our Chick Lit readers will probably enjoy! Let me know if there’s a book you would suggest for our new feature!

Our next pick for our new feature is Clinton Kelly’s - Oh No She Didn’t: The Top 100 Style Mistakes Women Make and How to Avoid Them, which is out now! Clinton Kelly is known for his role as the co-host of TLC’s “What Not to Wear” in the United States. Not only does he have incredible taste in clothing, but Kelly is one of the most feisty, playful and good-natured men in fashion. His snarky and fun attitude alone makes me eager to pick up his newest release. Take a look at the synopsis to see if you might like it as well…

Muffin tops. Scrunchies. Suntan hose. Slut shoes. Visible panty line.

Who hasn’t had the unfortunate experience of witnessing—or (gasp!) actually wearing—one of these fashion disasters? The atrocities Clinton Kelly has seen—it’s a surprise he hasn’t gouged out his own eyes. Mom jeans? Fancy fingernails? Tracksuits? In the same straight-talking style that has made TLC’s What Not to Wear a smash hit for eight seasons, the cheeky media personality and author of Freakin’ Fabulous shows women how to outfit themselves with confidence and style as he pokes fun at fashion “don’ts.” From the most obvious faux pas (Texas tuxedos) to borderline offenses (peekaboo boobies), Clinton offers detailed and entertaining critiques of our top one hundred sartorial slip-ups. He turns his keen eye to wardrobe, color, cut, cleanliness, hairstyle, accessories, and even posture. And because he loves you, he presents easy alternatives and practical suggestions for creating fabulous outfits that will make you forget you ever wore socks with clogs.

Clinton also explains how to use trends to your advantage at any age, from deciding which ones work for you to understanding how to wear them to keep your look relevant. Because if you’re not comfortable in the sequined mini, everyone around you will know it.

A delightful mix of hilarious dish and expert fashion advice, Oh No She Didn’t will turn anyone from fashion victim to fashionista in no time.

‘Not Exactly Chick Lit But…’ is a new feature on Chick Lit Reviews highlighting some books that are not exactly Chick Lit (hence the title) but that our Chick Lit readers will probably enjoy! Let me know if there’s a book you would suggest for my new feature!

This week’s book The Best Friend’s Guide To Life seems like the perfect book for Chick Lit fans, that isn’t exactly Chick Lit! It’s written by Fearne Cotton and Holly Willougby - real life best friends - and sounds like a perfect read for best friends, or just anyone wondering what it is that makes a good friend! I for one love the sound of it!

What makes a great friend? Has Facebook ruined dating? What’s the secret to effortless style? “Hello! This is a book written by proper best friends - us! - who have been hanging out together for over ten years. We thought that if we shared some of our own experiences and views on friendship, relationships, leaving home, studying or starting a new job, then it might help you on your own journey. Inside you’ll find loads of stories - some funny, some sad, and some that make us cringe with embarrassment - as well as tips and advice on things like dating and looking good. We’ve included our best photos from over the years (even the dodgy ones!) and drawings that Fearne has done especially. Let’s face it, life isn’t easy at times so we hope that this book will make you laugh, entertain you, but most of all that it might be a bit like talking to your very best friend.”

Our latest book that we’re highlight in our new feature of books that aren’t Chick Lit is Woath It? Coase Ah Am, Pet? by Cheryl Kerl, which is out on October 14th October 2010. It sounds absolutely hilarious and is a parody on Cheryl Cole, written like a proper Geordie! It might take you a while to decipher the synopsis, but here it is anyway (Good luck, says the Geordie herself):

‘Not Exactly Chick Lit But…’ Mrs Fry’s Diaries

‘Not Exactly Chick Lit But…’ is a new feature on Chick Lit Reviews highlighting some books that are not exactly Chick Lit (hence the title) but that our Chick Lit readers will probably enjoy! Let me know if there’s a book you would suggest for my new feature!

The first book I’ve chosen to feature for ‘Not Exactly Chick Lit But…’ is the fantastic-sounding Mrs Fry’s Diary by Mrs Stephen Fry. It’s due out 15th October and it sounds hilarious. It sounds exactly like my kind of book and one I know a lot of you would probably enjoy! Here’s what it’s about:

Stephen Fry’s secret wife speaks out at last…

Enjoyed a nice cuppa this morning with a HobNob and Jeremy Kyle. There was a woman on there who’d been married 16 years without realising her husband was gay. Extraordinary! Which reminds me, it’s our 16th anniversary in a few weeks. What a coincidence.

Stephen Fry - actor, writer, raconteur and wit. Cerebral and sophisticated, a true Renaissance man.

Or is he?

Finally, his secret double life - the womanizing, the window-cleaning, the kebabs, the karaoke - is exclusively revealed by Edna, his devoted wife and mother of his five, six or possibly seven children. These diaries take us through a year in the life of an unwitting celebrity wife, and are rumoured to include:

- scandalous nocturnal shenanigans
- advice on childcare
- 101 things to do with a tin of Spam.

‘A good diary should be like a good husband - a constant companion, a source of inspiration and, ideally, bound in leather.’ - Edna Fry
