August Releases from Little Black Dress

Posted on Friday, July 30th, 2010 by Leah

There’s just two releases in August from Little Black Dress but both sound fantastic in totally different ways and I will definitely have to get myself them - how gorgeous is the cover for Vintage Magic? - and add them to my growing (and lovely) Little Black Dress collection!

Nell Dixon - Just Look At Me Now -5th August 2010

Life is fabulous for Tia Carpenter. She has it all, money, looks, a great job as the beauty expert at stylish Platinum magazine and, at last, the attention of her unrequited high school love, Josh Banks. But Tia has a secret – back at school she was Barbara Baker, overweight, crooked teeth, frizzy hair and no fashion sense.

Cosmetic dentistry, losing seven stones in weight and a complete makeover later, Tia has successfully erased her past life as Big Barb, tub of lard, until the day Juliet Gold, the bane of her teenage existence, arrives to work at the magazine. Juliet always got everything she ever wanted, and now she wants both Tia’s job and Josh. Tia will have to use every makeover trick she’s ever learned to stop Juliet from uncovering her past and stealing her man.

    Sally Anne-Morris - Vintage Magic - 19th August 2010

Her love life in tatters, Rose Taylor decides its time to run away from London and open a vintage dress shop near her sister in Bath. If anyone is able to fully appreciate the life-enhancing power of finding and wearing that one very special dress, it’s Rose, but it seems the tea dresses, ball-gowns and lace in Viva Las Vintage! really do have a life of their own…

As she uncovers the secret of the shop’s magical powers, Rose realises that she can be transformed into a bewitching goddess, one with not only the power to get back the man she lost but to reach out and grab the life she’s always wanted. Dressing to impress is about to take on a whole new meaning…

July Releases from Little Black Dress

Posted on Thursday, July 1st, 2010 by Leah

July sees the release of only two Little Black Dress books. First up is Janet Gover’s third LBD adventure which sounds fab. I’m a huge fan of racing and this sounds right up my street. The second release is the third Haley Randolph mystery from Dorothy Howell. It sounds like an intriguing series and I adore the cover!

    Janet Gover - Girl Racers - 8th July 2010

Winning the race is one thing, but can Alex be a winner in love? Tomboy lawyer Alex Reilly loves nothing better than coming first – except her sexy red Lotus sports car. Preparing for the gruelling Snowy Mountains Car Rally, Alex isn’t expecting competition in the form of glamorous model Lyn Stanton.

Lyn is everything Alex is not: blonde, gorgeous and girlie – and she’s also navigating the race for Keir Thomas, the man who left town and broke Alex’s heart eleven years ago. When the three are unexpectedly thrown together, Alex realises she must find a way to trust Keir again to have any chance of crossing the finish line first. Will they be able to confront their troubled past and rediscover not only their shared passion for cars, but each other?

    Dorothy Howell - Shoulder Bags & Shootings - 22nd July 2010

Life is beyond fabulous for Haley Randolph. She just spent two amazing weeks in Europe with her boyfriend Ty Cameron, owner of Holt’s Department Store where Haley works. And now Ty’s grandmother, Ada, is letting Haley drive her way-cool Mercedes. Plus, Haley’s closing in on the season’s must-have handbag.

But when Haley finds the body of her nemesis in the trunk of Ada’s Mercedes, things aren’t so fabulous anymore. Topping the list of suspects, Haley must solve this murder quickly – and find that hot handbag – before she becomes a killer’s next fashion fatality!

June Releases from Little Black Dress

Posted on Tuesday, June 1st, 2010 by Leah

The end of May means only one thing: the latest releases from Little Black Dress for June. I have to say I’m really looking forward to Mary Carter’s new book My Sister’s Voice. I have a couple of her previous LBD books to read but My Sister’s Voice sounds fab so I’ll certainly be trying to get my hands on a copy!

Samantha Scott Jeffries - The Final Hitch - 10th June

Izzy Mistry loves her job planning weddings in Majorca but she wasn’t expecting any proposals herself. And certainly not from two different men in one night! So now she’s chosen the one she wants – old flame Harrisson - and fallen madly in love with a rustic house in the mountains, Izzy’s life is looking a lot more romantic.

But as the happy couple wrestle with renovations and struggle to settle in to village life, suddenly everything seems a little less rosy. Izzy’s starting to feel the heat. But is this normal pre-wedding nerves… or is she about to make a massive mistake?

    Mary Carter - My Sister’s Voice - 24th June

Identical twins Lacey and Monica couldn’t be more different, and also couldn’t be more alike. In a devastating twist, they’ve been raised apart, but then, through destiny or sheer accident, they meet; and everything they believed to be true about their lives is set to change for ever. Secrets are revealed, friendships are tested, and biological parents are confronted as these new sisters strive to uncover the whole truth about why they were separated.

May Releases from Little Black Dress

Posted on Friday, April 30th, 2010 by Leah

Another month means one thing: more releases from the fab Little Black Dress imprint. There are only two releases this month - one from LBD queen Kate Lace and the third Hen Night Prophecy book from Jessica Fox!

Jessica Fox - Hard To Get - 13th May

Communications officer Charlotte loves her job at the Arts Council – it’s just a shame she has to share the office with her ex-husband, who also happens to be dating her boss. If there’s one thing that Charlotte doesn’t possess in her current romantic predicament, it’s hope. So when she finds herself in the beautiful Yorkshire moors visiting the Council’s current funded projects, including the aptly-named Hope Foundation, she can’t resist a wry smile. But it’s not long before Charlotte has three potential suitors to choose from: her repentant ex Richard, devoted single-parent Paul, and the notoriously dashing but ever-so-moody Heath. Perhaps Charlotte has reason to hope after all…

    Kate Lace - Moonlighting - 27th May

By day, Jess Dryden is a police officer. By night, she is an exotic dancer at Shoq nightclub. Holding down two jobs is not easy, but she’s skint, and the money she earns dancing is too good to turn down. But when Jess’s DI asks her to investigate some dodgy dealings at Shoq, her two lives threaten to collide, and the results could be explosive. And with her sexy police colleague Matt jumping to all the wrong conclusions, it’s more than just her career that’s on the line…

April Releases from Little Black Dress

Posted on Thursday, April 1st, 2010 by Leah

Three releases this month from Little Black Dress and I have to say I pre-ordered The Not-So-Secret Diary of a City Girl for myself and received it last week. I read it straight away and I loved it and will be reviewing it next week!

    Allie Spencer - The Not-So-Secret Diary of a City Girl - 1st April 2010

Can Laura prevent the bank (and her love life) from crashing and burning? Banking analyst Laura McGregor’s electronic diary is full of things which definitely shouldn’t be made public: musings on her lacklustre relationship with trader boyfriend Tom, disturbing irregularities in new boss Will’s trading accounts, and the small matter of her attraction to gorgeous journalist Alex. So when the diary is accidentally uploaded on to the internet in blog form by clueless younger sister Mel, suddenly not only Laura, but her bank too, is facing meltdown and, even worse, Laura suspects Alex of using it as a scoop. Fighting to convince the world’s media to believe her over Alex is one thing, but can Laura win the battle with her heart?

Rekha Waheed - Saris and the City - 15th April 2010

When ambitious City analyst Yasmin Yusuf’s hope for a traditional ‘happy ever after’ in the romance stakes is shattered she decides there’s only one course of action: get smart, sexy and successful. And what better way to achieve it than by turning around a failing lingerie company? Swept head-first into her glamorous new job by suave private banker Zachary Khan, Yasmin is soon clashing with snobby fashionistas, pedantic accountants, her culturally conservative Bengali family and, worst of all, Hannah Gibbs-Smythson, Zach’s indomitable senior advisor. With the odds stacked against her and her attraction to Zach complicating matters even further, the stakes for Yasmin have never been higher… Is she prepared to risk everything for the success she craves?

    Niamh Shaw - About Time - 29th April 2010

Plug yourself in to this hilarious, high-voltage romance from Niamh Shaw. Unlucky-in-love Lara sure knows how to pick ’em – losers, that is. But who can blame her when she’s never gotten over having her heart (and self-esteem) smashed to pieces by her one and only true love, the super-intelligent, super-geeky, and super-emotionally-inept Conn? Six years later, working alongside her ex on an energy-generating project in Dubai is the last thing Lara expected. It’s not long before sparks are flying, but can Lara trust Conn with her heart again?

March Releases from Little Black Dress

Posted on Monday, March 1st, 2010 by Leah

Only the two from Little Black Dress this month and I’m really looking forward to Julie Cohen’s new one.

Julie Cohen - Nina Jones & The Temple of Gloom - 4th March 2010

All work and no play makes Nina a dull girl… But when you’re PA to a celebrity chef who’s even tastier than one of his delicious dishes you can’t help loving your job. And what’s wrong with fancying the pants off your boss? Erm, everything if he’s married to someone else. So when Nina meets sexy Spaniard Juan, she’s thrilled to escape to a new life abroad… until Juan does a runner with her hard-earned cash. Nina has no choice but to head home and brave ‘The Temple of Gloom’ – a gothic flat with some unusual inhabitants. Nina’s had enough of bloodsuckers. But is her mysterious neighbour Viktor really a vampire?

Anne Dunlop - The Revenge of Lady Muck - 18th March

Can you find a prince without kissing a few frogs? Sensible schoolteacher Sarah Gordon used to think so. But now she’s so over her ex-fiancé, childhood sweetheart Ian, she wishes she’d never been under him. Besides, she’s too busy for love. Until tasty toff, Good Evening Ireland presenter Rupert Glass shows up at the Farmers’ Club barbecue and all of a sudden Sarah’s struggling to keep her cool. And when her sister’s wedding to a local farmer unexpectedly throws them together again, it looks like romance could really blossom. But Sarah’s about to discover it takes more than a four-leaf clover to be lucky in love…

February Releases from Little Black Dress

Posted on Monday, February 1st, 2010 by Leah

Just the two releases from Little Black Dress this month. I rather like the sound of Sarah Monk’s book and I adore the cover of Janet Mullany’s, it’s certainly eye-catching!

    Sarah Monk - Bittersweet - 4th February 2010

A bittersweet story in a beautiful setting – get away from it all with this touching, romantic tale

Nell and Ange have their whole lives mapped out with their fiancés – brothers Marcus and Justin. But when a trip to Prague goes pear-shaped, the plane brings them back down to earth with a bump. Desperate for a change of direction, Nell sacks off her job and her sorry excuse for a boyfriend, and sets off to see her much-loved Aunt in Cornwall with Ange in tow. The girls soon settle into village life – Nell opening up her own cake shop and Ange pulling pints (and men) as a buxom barmaid. But not everything in this quaint seaside town is quite what it seems…

    Janet Mullany - Improper Relations - 18th February 2010

After losing best friend and distant cousin Ann Weller in marriage to the Earl of Beresford, sharp-witted Charlotte Hayden feels inclined to be even ruder than usual to potential suitors. But after a compromising liaison with Beresford’s wicked, wayward cousin, Shad, she’s suddenly propelled into a reluctant marriage, and finds herself missing Ann more than ever. But when Ann returns from her honeymoon, she drops a bombshell – not only is she not sure she loves Beresford, she’s also had a child out of wedlock, and is planning to betray her husband with her former lover. Charlotte’s realisation that she’s falling in love with Shad only serves to make her dilemma even worse: should she keep Ann’s secret, or tell her husband the truth?

January Releases from Little Black Dress

Posted on Monday, January 4th, 2010 by Leah

There are only two releases from Little Black Dress in January. I’m so excited about The Death of Bridezilla, it sounds fantastic. I also adore the cover for Crystal Clear. Isn’t it so pretty?

    Nell Dixon - Crystal Clear - 7th January 2010

For years Zee has tried to ignore her real name (who calls their kid Azure Dawn?) and her mother Marla’s alternative lifestyle. A million miles away from all that new-age nonsense, she’s got a reliable teaching job, a perfect life plan and sensible accountant Simon for a fiancé. But when Marla gets sick, the foundations of Zee’s rock-steady world are seriously shaken. Soon she’s back home, in touch with the boy who broke her heart and even being sucked into one of her mum’s hare-brained schemes. What about Zee’s plans for the future? Could they ever include a free-spirit from her past?

Laurie Brown - Death of Bridezilla - 21st January 2010

After the collapse of her wedding-planning business, Caroline Tucker returns to her childhood New Mexico home, hoping to leave recent troubles behind her. But then she agrees to help organise her cousin’s wedding, and it’s not long before her frustration levels with the hellish Barbara reach breaking point. Driving through a local beauty spot the morning of the wedding, Caroline is shocked to discover the tangled pink mess of Barbara’s car, and even more so when she’s arrested for her murder. Suddenly she finds herself face-to-face with Sheriff Travis Beaumont, the ruggedly handsome cop who also happens to be her ex-husband. Caroline had hoped she’d never see Travis again; now she’ll have to find a way of working closely with him to have any chance of proving her innocence…
