Why we like/dislike it: I think this book cover is pretty awful. It is bland, it looks to me like the sort of old book you’d get free with a woman’s weekly magazine, and certainly wouldn’t inspire me to pick it up. I like the use of purple and white, but the pictures they’ve used just make it look old-fashioned and I really don’t think it’ll appeal to a younger market at all. I do like that Ulrika’s name takes a backseat to the book title, which doesn’t often happen with celebrity written books, but sadly that is the only positive thing I can find about this cover.

Would we buy this book based on its cover? No.
Do Judge A Book By Its Cover is a new feature on Chick Lit Reviews, where we take a look at some of the best (and worst) Chick Lit covers in existence. No synopsis, no hint of the story, just plain old book cover judging, with marks out of 10!

I must admit I do LIKE this cover. The clean lines, the fonts, but I wouldn’t buy it because it seems more like an old-oriented cover; if I saw it in a shop I would assume it’s aimed for someone older than me. So not for me!

I’m a bit of a book snob when it comes to celebs dabbling in fictional writing. I avoid them, even if I like the cover. Too many have a ghost-writer, and the ones that don’t seem to get slated all over the show too.
Either way, I don’t like the cover. It’s exactly as you said, looks like it would be free with a woman’s gossip magazine.

I don’t know… I think the cover portrays the plot well. I see a timid, delicate, older women when I look at the cover. I assumed it was about a woman who was going through some kind of crisis. And, lo and behold, I read your synopsis and it appears I am correct.
So, maybe the distaste for the cover says more about you then the cover itself says about the contents of the book? I like the cover and not because it suits my taste but because it probably suits the character in the book.

Looks like a Mills & Boon cover ~ boring and very uninspiring. I would NOT buy this book due to the cover and the “author”.

I actually liked the cover…I would, at the very least, lift this book up and read the storyline to see if it appealed to me.
