Cover Wars: The Love Verb by Jane Green

Posted By Chloe on March 28th, 2011

Jane Green’s latest novel The Love Verb originally came out last summer with a somewhat bland and undistinctive book cover, yet for its paperback release, it has had a real makeover with a bold new look, moving from the wishy-washy colours to bolder blues and pink and using a photographic image rather than a hand-drawn style one. I haven’t personally read the book so I can’t comment on which suits the book better, but I can’t decide which cover I like better! The older one (right) does look a little bland but there is something about the new one which looks a tad 90′s! Which do you prefer and why?

Neither of the covers stand out for me, but if I had to choose than I’d go for the original one.

I have to agree about the commenter above, neither cover really catches my eye. However If I had to choose between the two to have on my book shelf, it would be the new one.

I don’t like either. The hardback cover is too washed out - you can barely see the graphic. And as for the paperback, you can barely see the title which is a massive no-no. Jane’s name is miles too big. I wouldn’t buy either, unless I liked the synopsis.

I like the cover with the girl/real person best :)

I’d definitely go for the one on the left, the new one, first, but that’s not saying much. Neither one really does anything for me. They’re pretty, but don’t really stand out and say “buy me”.
