Cover Wars: Homecoming by Cathy Kelly

A bit of a curious cover wars this week, because it seems I am going to be looking at 3 book covers for 2 books instead of 2 covers for 1 book! Cathy Kelly’s last book was released in 2010 with a gorgeous red cover (middle) that we all loved, and thought suited the book perfectly. For its paperback release, it’s been made over with blues and golds (left), very different to the original but still very summery and pretty looking. However, if you take a look at one of Cathy’s older books, Once In A Lifetime (right) , this book cover looks almost identical, with the same colours, same leaf/butterfly imagery and a woman wearing almost the same thing. I can’t for the life of me figure out why the publishers would echo a book cover from a few years ago when the original was so lovely and different, so for me this new cover, is just too similar to another book for it to be a success!

I do see what you mean Chole, but I actually prefer the cover (gold and blue) than the one a few years ago and I don’t actually like the homecoming cover.
