Chick Flick Tuesday: Pretty Woman

Posted By Danielle on September 28th, 2010

Chick Flick Tuesday highlights the best chick flicks in the movie world as well as bringing you news on upcoming chick flick releases as well as letting you all know about which chick lit books are being made into chick flick movies!

Pretty Woman is the quintessential Julia Roberts movie, her first big break into the world of acting and film. Without a doubt, one of my all time favorites as well. Scenes like the one on Rodeo drive in which she calls a sales person to task for having lost her sales the day previous are what make this Chick Flick a classic. Not only that, but the story of a girl in a bad situation given a second chance at life with non-other than prince charming is one of the many aspects of the movie that make it so endearing. If you haven’t seen it, I’d just have to ask, why not?

“Vivian (Julia Roberts) is a spirited, streetwise diamond in the rough when she meets shrewd, no-nonsense billionaire Edward Lewis (Richard Gere). It’s a chance encounter that turns a week long business arrangement into a timeless rags-to-riches romance.”

Author Interview: Rachel Hore

I recently read Rachel Hore’s latest novel A Place of Secrets and I was completely blown away by how much I enjoyed the novel. It had a fantastic mix of history, romance, and family secrets and anyone who loves all of those things will undoubtedly love the book! I got the chance to ask Rachel some questions and here are her answers!

1. Can you tell us about your latest novel A Place of Secrets in your own words?

Two women, though divided by centuries of time, are linked by a special place: a tower in a Norfolk forest used to view the night sky. Each is trapped in her own particular set of circumstances, and must find the way to free herself. Jude is an auctioneer, who is mourning her husband. She comes to Starbrough Hall to value a collection of 18th century astronomical instruments and learns the tragic story of Esther Wickham, the astronomer’s adopted daughter. I liked the idea that a place can be magical because of all the things that have happened there in history.

2. Are you currently working on a new novel? Can you tell us anything about it?

I’ve written half of my next novel and expect to finish it in the spring. It starts in Cornwall before the Second World War before moving on to all sorts of places, and is about misplaced faithfulness and undying love.

Book News: Trapped by Brooke Morgan

Posted By Leah on September 28th, 2010

Brooke Morgan’s second novel, Trapped, is due for release on 14th October 2010 and sounds like a fantastic thriller. I’m quite the fan of books with darker elements and this one definitely appeals! The striking cover is fantastic and I can’t wait for it to be released. Here is the synopsis:

Everyone has to live with their past, but no one should be haunted by it…Ellie Walters is determined to get back on her feet after the break-up of her marriage. Now living on Cape Cod with her increasingly angry and troubled teenage son, Tim, she tentatively believes they can build a new life together. And when Ellie finds herself falling for her new neighbour’s son, Joe, she feels she can at last move on. Until, one day, elements connected to a tragic event in Ellie’s past - an event she has never been able to come to terms with - start appearing. It seems that someone is determined to make her suffer, all over again. Whilst a misunderstanding drives a rift between her and Joe and her relationship with Tim threatens to deteriorate completely, a confused and frightened Ellie seems powerless to stop what seems increasingly like a terrifying campaign of persecution. And Ellie is faced with the horrifying possibility that she’ll be trapped in this nightmare for ever…
