Cover Wars: Mini Shopaholic - UK vs. US!
Posted By Chloe on July 20th, 2010
A lot of you left comments telling us you didn’t like
the UK version of Sophie Kinsella’s new book Mini Shopaholic, due out in September, because it doesn’t match the earlier books in the series and the colours aren’t great. Sophie’s American publishers just released the US version of the book cover, and I am not overly keen on that either, it’s quite plain! Which do you prefer and why?

I prefer the UK cover by far. I know it doesn’t match the other books in the series but I still like it… I think it’s cute! (apart from the green which is a bit bleurgh)

UK I guess. US is nice but I don’t like the blue.

I like the US cover a lot more, the UK cover looks messy. However, I’m hardly the person to ask because I generally dislike the Shopaholic books.

I prefer the US one. Yes, it’s very simple, but I don’t like that the UK one has changed Becky’s hair to look more like Isla Fisher (unless, of course, it’s described that way in the book and I’ve never noticed!). They’re both a bit feeble though, tbh.

I prefer the US one, it stands out and is much more simple. However, I agree with Keris, they could be better

I much prefer the UK cover - I actually think the picture is really sweet and does it really matter if it doesn’t match the earlier books? I don’t like the full on blue cover on the US version at all.
And for the record, I can’t wait for this book to be released!! I am a HUGE SK fan : )

I like the USA version better. It doesn’t really matter what the outside looks like though. I am just so happy she wrote another book in the series!!!!!

I like them both! The UK cover is really interesting and the US one is so sweet. I bet they will both look better in the ‘flesh’ anyway - can’t wait to read the book!

I like the US version, cleaner, nicer lines and colors. The UK version is very unsettling and hard on the eyes.

I perfere the UK version as it is more eye catching.

I like the US one better. I’m really hoping for a nice box set with matching covers though!

I prefer the simplicity of the US cover over the busy UK one. I agree with some of the other comments - there’s too much going on in the UK cover. It’s odd, usually I like UK covers more, but not in this case.

I like the US cover waaaay more than the UK cover. I love that illustrator. The UK version is way too busy…it took me a while to figure out what was going on. Can’t wait to get my copy.

I had a hard time to choose between the two versions in the bookshop. I liked the UK version but the book is much larger and heavier, so finally I bought the US version.
