Book Cover: Inheritance by Tara Palmer-Tomkinson

I made a post a while back featuring the synopsis for Tara Palmer-Tomkinson’s debut fiction book Inheritance which is due out on October 1st 2010. We now have the cover which I have to admit, is quite nice. I probably won’t read the book, though, because I’m not a fan of celebrity reads! Here’s the synopsis:

Notorious party-loving ‘It Girl’ Lyric Charlton has it all – the lineage, the looks and the lifestyle. A moneyed upbringing at the heart of one of the upper class’s most well-connected families, a finishing school education and an address book bursting with the world’s most powerful and high-profile people has crowned her the glamorous poster girl for the aristocratic glitterati. But when her doomed relationship with suave boy-about-town Ralph Conway means she takes the good times too far, she is packed off to rehab by her worried parents, and the public shame and private humiliation that follow means Lyric’s only option seems to be to retreat into sober obscurity. But what no one can predict is the dramatic chain of events her exile sets in motion. For Lyric’s treatment is the start of much more than a life as an ex-addict. It’s the catalyst that exposes a complex web of deceit and betrayal – and leads Lyric on an increasingly dangerous quest to find the final missing piece of the jigsaw of her life…

I’m not a big fan of celebrity authors either. I like the picture on the cover, but I’d rather her name was in the pink colour and Inheritence in black, as I can’t really see it, and I’d be more likely to buy it if I didn’t realise it was TPT.

Chloe

I like it but can’t stand TPT so probably won’t read this!!

Tamara

Not a fan eiter of celebrity authors as they only get published because they’re supposed to be famous. doesn’t mean they can write. The cover is OK but you can hardly see the title of the book. Publicist are obviously going to try to sell the book for her name not for the content. says it all.
sorry to be negative but TPT will never beat Jane Green, Sophie Kinsella or Lisa Jewell to only name a few.

Melissa

I have to agree. If she wants to write fiction — even celebrity fiction — her name shouldn’t be more prominent than the book’s title.

Claire

I might just read it for a laugh, nice cover though

Jane Willis

I needed a second look at the picture to see that there even WAS a title. I wouldn’t be inclined to choose a book by a celebrity author but if thetitle really grabbed me I might give it a chance.

I presume books like this are ghost written- it would be nice to see the ghost writer get some credit on the cover.

Tara

I will pick it up when its out and read it but as Tamara said its hard to beat the authors allready out there but give Tara a break she might suprise up and we might love the book so lets watch this space and see what happens…. I am willing to read it and if its good I will buy her next book after that xx
