American Saturday: Susan Wingate wins award for ‘Bobby’s Diner’
Susan Wingate’s “Bobby’s Diner” – the No. 1 Book in the Bobby’s Diner Series Wins a 2010 Finalist Award for the fiction category of Women’s Lit/Chick Lit, in the International Book Awards (IBA).
On the heels of 2009, it seems as if “Bobby’s Diner” will not give up its momentum on prize-winning.
Susan Wingate’s novel, “Bobby’s Diner” (False Bay Books, August 2009) won two finalist awards in 2009—one for the National Book Awards and another for the Next Generation Indie Book Awards. This year the book is still garnering acclaim.
The 2010 International Book Awards (IBA) has just slated “Bobby’s Diner” as a Finalist Award Winner in the fiction category of Women’s Lit/Chick Lit. When asked about the honors, Wingate responded, “I couldn’t believe it. I entered only two days before the deadline! I had to Federal Express my entry to have it arrive on time. I thought it was a good try but never, ever thought it would win in an international competition. Not that I don’t have faith in this book, nothing like it. But, and international competition draws so many more entries, I thought [“Bobby’s Diner”] might have slight chance of winning, at best. I’m ecstatic!”
