Author Interview: Sasha Blake
Following on from our giveaway yesterday - where there’s still one copy up for grabs! - we have an exclusive interview with Sasha Blake. Her debut novel is called Betrayal and is released next week and sounds like a great read.
1. Hi Sasha! Describe your latest novel, Betrayal, in a sentence.
Betrayal: a story of greed, lust, murder and bad parenting.
2. What, if anything, are you currently working on?
The Wish - a big juicy escapist read set in Las Vegas, about powerful women with secrets they need to keep.
3. Where do you get your book ideas?
Some detail of a story I hear - or read about - sparks my imagination. After about fifty false starts I hit on the right ‘what if?’
4. As a debut novelist, what inspired you to write Betrayal, are you a fan of those kind of novels?
‘Those kinds of novels’ are often fabulous. Sometimes you just need entertainment - a respite from gloom! I wanted Betrayal to grip people… my editor claimed to have missed her tube stop. Writing Betrayal was a happy experience - and essentially, beyond the jets, yachts and private islands, it’s a story about love, hate, and family relationships.
5. How did you get published, how long did it take?
I was fortunate in that I found a great agent who liked my writing.
6. What are you currently reading/who are some of your favourite authors?
I love Jane Austen, and Elizabeth Berg - an American writer - she writes with humour and wisdom and she understands people. I’m currently reading Tatty Ratty by Helen Cooper - again and again - it’s twenty pages of brilliance - my four year old loves it.
7. Are any of your characters like you in anyway?
Well, I don’t behave as badly and I have less money - but I can relate to many of their emotions. I think you have to, as an author, or they wouldn’t feel real as people.
8. What advice would you give to aspiring writers?
Don’t use two words when one will do!
Thanks so much, Sasha!

Is Sasha Blake a pysuedonym? I find all of these authors of so-called glam books always have conveniently glamours names! This one sounds great though,
