Giveaway: Win all of Paige Toon’s books! NOW CLOSED

Posted on Tuesday, June 29th, 2010 by Leah

Thanks to the lovely Ally at Simon & Schuster we have a set of all four of Paige Toon’s books to giveaway (Lucy in the Sky, Johnny Be Good, Chasing Daisy AND her new book Pictures of Lily) to three lucky readers and here’s the best bit: it’s open Worldwide! To make it a bit fairer to our lovely readers, one set of books will be designated to a UK/European reader, one set will be designated to a Rest of the World area and the third set of books will be a random pick from all areas, so please make sure to choose the correct area of the two. All you have to do to enter is to fill in the Google Document below and please be aware of our Terms and Conditions before entering and the competition closes on July 8th (the date Pictures of Lily is released). Good luck!

‘Will you marry me?’ I think of you, then. I think of you every day. But usually in the quietest part of the morning, or the darkest part of the night. Not when my boyfriend of two years has just proposed. I look up at Richard with his hopeful eyes. ‘Lily?’ he prompts. It’s been ten years, but it feels like only yesterday that you left. How can I say yes to Richard with all my heart when most of it has always belonged to you? I take a deep breath and will myself to speak…Ten years ago when Lily was just sixteen, she fell in love with someone she really shouldn’t have fallen in love with. Now, living in Sydney and engaged to another man, she can’t forget the one that got away. Then her past comes back to haunt her, and she has to make a decision that will break her heart - and the heart of at least one of the men who love her. (Synopsis from Paige’s latest book Pictures of Lily)

American Saturday Giveaway: It Could Be Worse, You Could Be Me

Posted on Saturday, June 12th, 2010 by Danielle

Thanks to the lovely publishers Harper Perennial we have one copy of Ariel Leve’s book It Could Be Worse, You Could Be Me to give away to a US reader! All you have to do to enter is to email us at [email protected] with the subject title of “It Could Be Worse, You Could Be Me Giveaway”. The giveaway ends on 30th June when a winner will be picked at random! Good luck!

Meet Ariel. Her glass is half empty . . . and leaking. If someone tells her everything will be okay, she asks: How do you know? If there’s a wrong thing to say, she’ll say it. If there’s a downside to see, she’ll see it. She lives in a permanent fear of what’s to come. But at least she’s prepared. In these witty and entertaining tales from the front lines of woe, Ariel highlights the humor in our everyday anxieties and delivers insight that will ring hilariously true if you are inclined to view the world through gray-tinted glasses. So whether you’ve been dumped by the love of your life, lost your job to the guy in the cubicle next to you, said the wrong thing at the party, or weren’t invited to the party at all, Ariel is here to remind you that it could be worse, you could be her.

“Izzy Mistry loves her job planning weddings in Majorca but she wasn’t expecting any proposals herself. And certainly not from two different men in one night! So now she’s chosen the one she wants – old flame Harrisson – and fallen madly in love with a rustic house in the mountains, Izzy’s life is looking a lot more romantic.

But as the happy couple wrestle with renovations and struggle to settle in to village life, suddenly everything seems a little less rosy. Izzy’s starting to feel the heat. But is this normal pre-wedding nerves… or is she about to make a massive mistake?”

American Saturday Giveaway: ‘The Summer of Skinny Dipping’

Posted on Saturday, June 5th, 2010 by Leah

After Amanda Howell saw Danielle’s lovely review of her debut novel The Summer of Skinny Dipping she emailed Danielle offering us the chance to give away two copies of her book. There will be two winners picked: one entrant from the UK and one entrant from the US. All you have to do to win a copy of the book is send us an email to [email protected] with the subject line of ‘The Summer of Skinny Dipping Giveaway (UK/US)’ and please include your postal address. You MUST include your country, UK or US, otherwise you will not be entered into the draw. The competition ends in July so good luck!

Sometimes I still wake up shivering in the early hours of the morning, drowning in dreams of being out there in the ocean that summer, of looking up at the moon and feeling as invisible and free as a fish. But I’m jumping ahead, and to tell the story right I have to go back to the very beginning. To a place called Indigo Beach. To a boy with pale skin that glowed against the dark waves. To the start of something neither of us could have predicted, and which would mark us forever, making everything that came after and before seem like it belonged to another life.

My name is Mia Gordon: I was sixteen years old, and I remember everything.

“Lu Edwards may write and illustrate books for children, but she’s certain she doesn’t want children of her own. She believes in travelling light, with not even a goldfish to tie her down, until Nick – a WWI expert with more baggage than Heathrow, right down to the kids, ex-wife and hamster – blows into her life. He’s absolutely not Mr Right, but as he helps Lu trace a strand of her family history, she finds herself being drawn into his chaotic but warm world. Being the wicked step-mother was never a role Lu fancied playing, though, and she’s not sure that loving Nick will be enough for a happy ever after together…”
