Book News: Little Black Everything by Alex Coleman

Posted on Monday, October 19th, 2009 by Leah

alex coleman little black everythingAlex Coleman‘s second novel, following The Bright Side which sounds fab, is due out on the 29th October and will be called Little Black Everything. It sounds like an interesting read and one to keep our eyes peeled for!

Holly Christmas is a twenty-eight year old teacher who shares a small house in Dublin with her cat, Claude. She has always seen herself as a refreshingly honest individual who doesn’t suffer fools gladly. When her current boyfriend tells her that it’s over between them, he goes to some lengths to point out that the fault is entirely hers.

Holly tries to laugh it off, but when she gets back to her lonely little house, she begins to think … She’s heard this sort of thing from men before. Where she sees refreshing honesty, they tend to see shocking bluntness. Could this be the real reason why her love life is such a disaster? When the school term begins, Holly’s finds that she has a new colleague, James. He’s a relentlessly cheerful, affable people-person. In short, he’s everything that Holly is not. At first, she is merely intrigued by him. How does he do it? But intrigue quickly turns to attraction. And problems …

Book Cover: Kissing Mr Wrong by Sarah Duncan

Posted on Thursday, October 15th, 2009 by Leah

sarah duncan kissing mr wrongSarah Duncan’s second novel of 2009 (after A Single To Rome), Kissing Mr. Wrong, is released on the 10nd December and the cover has finally been released; I love the bright colours. It will be her fifth novel! Here’s a useless piece of trivia: before turning to writing Sarah was Rodney’s girlfriend – before Cassandra – on Only Fools and Horses! The synopsis for Kissing Mr. Wrong reads:

Alex may write and illustrate books for children, but she’s certain she doesn’t want children of her own, and she definitely isn’t interested in men with baggage – until Gus blows into her life. Gus has more baggage than Terminal 5 – ex-wife, kids and a large dog that leaves hairs over Alex’s favourite trousers.

He’s absolutely not Mr Right, but as he helps Alex trace a strand of her family history, she finds herself being drawn into his chaotic but warm world. But being the wicked step-mother was never a role Alex fancied playing, and she’s not sure that loving Gus will be enough for a happy ever after together…

sophietwentiesgirlLara Lington thinks of herself as a fairly hip twenties girl, living in the 21st century. But the last thing she expects at her Great Aunt Sadie’s funeral is for Sadie herself to appear and demand for the whole thing to be stopped.

Lara thinks she’s going mad: how on Earth can she hear and see a dead person? It turns out Great Aunt Sadie is actually a ghost and a ghost with a mission: to track down her missing Dragonfly necklace. Sadie eventually manages to convince Lara to help look for the necklace.

Can they find it, and can Sadie ever rest in peace?
