Cover Wars: Heart of the Matter by Emily Giffin

The paperback of Emily Giffin’s fifth novel Heart of the Matter will finally be released on 4th August 2011 and for that occasion, the publishers have changed the cover. The trade paperback cover was very Wintery and the new paperback is definitely more like Emily’s US style covers (right). For me the new cover wins out, I know it’s probably plain but it really stands out to me and I just didn’t like the previous cover. Which do you prefer?

Tessa Russo is the mother of two young children and the wife of a renowned pediatric surgeon. Despite her mother’s warnings, Tessa gave up her own career to focus on her family - and from the outside, it seems as if she has the perfect life. Valerie Anderson is an attorney and single mother to six-year-old Charlie. Charlie has never known his father, and after too many disappointments, Valerie has given up on romance, believing it is safer that way. Although both women live in the same Boston suburb, the two have relatively little in common aside from a fierce love for their children. But one night, a tragic accident causes their lives to converge in ways no one could have imagined…

I’m definitely enjoying the new cover!

I like the traditional one on the right (like the US covers). I think that’s what makes Emily stand out. Her covers don’t usually look like every other book out there (like the one on the left).

Kat

To be honest I don’t like either!

I’m with Kat, I don’t like either!
